A contestant on Blown Away signed up for a glass blowing class at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. She spent a year in Murano, Italy as an apprentice of one of the world’s best glass sculptors, Pino Signoretta. Glass artist Blown Away toured the world with the Hot Glass Show at the Corning Museum of Glass aboard the Celebrity Solstice Class ships, showcasing her glassblowing skills and artistry.
She spent the next several years studying the business and working under the guidance of many prominent glass masters throughout the United States. She became the youngest Steuben Glass master gaffler (glass blower) and the second gaffler in the company.
Steuben Glass is an American fine glass and crystal company founded by the famous glass master Federick Carder in 1903. In 1918, the brand was purchased by Corning Glass Works and became Corning Incorporated. The Blown Away candidate also gained valuable information and insight while holding workshops at the studio of the Corning Museum of Glass in New York.
Brenna Baker’s Hollywood Hot Glass
After 16 years in the glass business, the Blown Away finalist took the first steps towards her ambition to become an independent glass artist and started her own studio, Hollywood Hot Glass, in South Florida in June 2013. They initially debuted on Groupon by offering live demos. , but the studio has become so popular over the years that it’s usually full. The studio also got a lot of publicity from local news networks, particularly National Geographic, which helped speed things up.
The best aspect, according to Baker, is being able to share his passion for glassblowing with the rest of the world. In an interview with Parkbench she said:
