Who Is Giada De Laurentiis’ Boyfriend? All About Shane Farley

Giada De Laurentiis and boyfriend Shane Farley have known each other for a decade.

When the couple met in 2013, De Laurentiis was married to her then-husband, Todd Thompson, with whom she shares daughter Jade, 15.

The Food Network veteran and Thompson divorced the following year in 2014 after 11 years of marriage. After their split, De Laurentiis did not want to return to the dating scene.

“After I got divorced, I spent about a year and a half alone, not dating, just figuring things out,” she told PEOPLE in 2018. “I was with Jade’s dad for 25 years. I didn’t know what it was like to not be married,” she said. “When I settled down, Shane and I became close again and I felt like a kid again.”

De Laurentiis and Farley have been together for nearly eight years, and she told PEOPLE in April 2022 that things are “going great.”

I was lucky that I was able to find someone relatively soon after the divorce, she said. “So far so good, which is lucky for me because when you’re a single mother and working, it can be hard to find someone who can accept that kind of life.”

He is an award-winning producer

While his girlfriend spent most of her career working in front of the camera, Farley spent his behind it.

He is a four-time Emmy-winning producer who has created, hosted and consulted on hit shows, including The Rachael Ray Show, Vote, The Rosie O’Donnell Show and The Steve Harvey Show.

He also worked behind the scenes on the De Laurentiis show, Giada at home 2.0during quarantine with a culinary expert during COVID-19.

The TV presenter released a behind-the-scenes video of their production at home, with the production team: Jade and Farley.

He met Giada through work

The couple met in 2013 when Farley was hired to produce a talk show with De Laurentiis and her good friend and fellow Food Network star, Bobby Flay.

“I just thought she was really smart and funny and I thought, ‘Gee, she’d be a great host for the show,'” he previously told PEOPLE about their first meeting.

Although the talk show did not take off, Farley and De Laurentiis remained good friends.

They started dating in 2015 after he moved to Los Angeles

Farley (50) moved to Los Angeles in 2015 to work FABLife, a daytime talk show created by Tyra Banks. Assembly where FABLife it was also filmed where De Laurentiis’ production company was stationed.

“We’d run into each other, we’d go out for drinks,” he shared with PEOPLE in 2018. “We were just friends, and then eventually we started dating.”

“Giada is one of the most positive people I’ve ever met,” he said. “She is warm and absolutely beautiful – what you see on the outside is there on the inside.”

He was previously married

Farley was previously married from 2000 to 2015 to New York personal trainer Jennifer Giamo.

The couple divorced in 2015, shortly before he moved to Los Angeles for work, and have no children.

His ex-wife wrote a candid piece for Thrive Global about their divorce and turning to meditation and shamanism to get through tough times.

“As someone who barely missed a workout, I didn’t have the energy to walk my dog,” she wrote. “I was caught in a trap of destructive behavior despite my inclination towards wellness. I knew I had to try something different. A friend suggested I see her shaman…Learning to deal with the aftermath of divorce using these types of alternative methods can provide hope in a seemingly hopeless situation.”

He is close to De Laurentiis’ daughter, Jade

Farley has not only developed a close relationship with De Laurentiis over the years — but also with her daughter, Jade.

“I don’t have kids, and it was nice to have such a well-adjusted, fun kid around,” Farley previously told PEOPLE. “She’s just a great kid. She’s smart. She’s fun. She’s adorable.”

The trio can often be seen together on social media, spending holidays together, vacationing and celebrating important events like her graduation in 2022.

The proud mum posted a series of pictures including one of Jade posing with Farley on her big day.

“I can’t believe how fast time flies! I’m so proud of you, Jadey! ♥️ Until the next exciting chapter – 9th grade!! #mommymoments,” she captioned the post.

He and De Laurentiis love to travel

De Laurentiis and Farley work hard and play hard. Over the past two years, they’ve traveled to Hawaii, Miami, Italy and the Big Apple to name a few, seeing the sights and enjoying decadent meals.

Jade often travels with them, but when she’s not traveling, she’s top of mind. While founder Giadzy and her boyfriend were on a couple’s trip to New York in 2022, the celebrity mom posted that she spent most of their trip on the phone with her daughter, who was at summer camp.

“Shane is really enjoying our trip 🤪 @shanefarley,” she captioned a video montage of her strolling around the city as if she were constantly on the phone.

He knows that the way to De Laurentiis’ heart is through food

When you’re a famous chef, sometimes you just want someone to cook for you! For her 52nd birthday, Farley went above and beyond to make his host a chicken biryani at her request, a dish that took him four days to perfect for the birthday girl.

Showing off his progress in a video posted to her Instagram, the TV producer revealed he had to make several trips to the grocery store to get out of his comfort zone, joking that he’s “the best guy with six or seven ingredients.”

His hard work paid off – De Laurentiis loved it. – The man worked on this dish for four days and it is divine – she said.

While it was under construction, De Laurentiis, Jade and Farley went to see the progress. Farley brought a surprise that he thought would fit well into the space – a cardboard cutout of De Laurentiis in a black evening dress.

“I decided to bring this to put in the wall,” he said as he revealed the cutout.

De Laurentiis was on board and dated the cutout with a marker before allowing contractors to hammer the cutout into the wall before installing the drywall.

“Shane is a lot of fun. He’s very spontaneous and loves to laugh,” she shared with PEOPLE in 2018. “That’s one of my favorite things about our relationship.”
