Victor Kiam bought the team from the Sullivan family in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Victor Kiam later sold the team to James Orthwein in 1992. Orthwein owned the team for a short but contentious period before selling it to Robert Kraft.
Robert Kraft purchased the New England Patriots for an estimated $175 million in 1994. That was after he bought Foxboro Stadium, the team’s home stadium, in 1988 after it went bankrupt.
