Biography of Roy Moore
Roy Moore was born in Gadsden, Alabama on February 11, 1947. Moore’s parents are Evelyn Stewart and Roy Baxter Moore. Moore’s father worked in construction. His father died in 1967. Five siblings – two brothers and two sisters – made up his childhood.
In 1954, the family moved to Houston, Texas and did not return to Alabama until four years later. The family eventually moved to Pennsylvania before returning permanently to Alabama. Tennessee Valley Authority hires his father to start the business. He attended Gallant High School for his education. For further education, Moore transferred to Etowah County High School. He finished high school in 1965.
He was accepted into the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, on the advice of Albert Rains. Moore graduated in 1969. The politician served in numerous locations during the Vietnam War, including Fort Benning in Georgia, Illesheim in Germany and the Republic of Vietnam. His discipline earned him the title “Captain America” among the soldiers.
Jay was honorably retired as a captain in the US Army in 1974. In the same year, he was admitted to the University of Alabama Law School. The captain received his doctorate in law in 1977.

From 1977 to 1982, the politician was a prosecutor. Moore is an expert in insurance and personal injury matters. He worked as a lawyer from 1984 to 1992 in private practice. He lost to Democrat Jimmy Hedgspeth for Etowah County District Attorney in 1986.
He was appointed judge of the Sixteenth Circuit Court of Alabama in 1992. He won with 62 percent of the vote. In office from 1992 to 2000, politician. He was appointed Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court in 2001. After neglecting to remove a monument associated with the Ten Commandments from the rotunda of the Alabama courthouse, Moore was removed from office in November 2003.
