On June 3, 2023, just before 6:30 pm, Bettendorf 911 officials responded to multiple 911 calls reporting that a person had drowned while she was swimming in the lake. The Bettendorf Police and Fire Department later launched a boat to help search for the missing teen. At 8:27 p.m., two hours after she disappeared, the authorities found the young man. Unfortunately, the body of the missing person was found.
