Woman Says She ‘Wanted to Gag’ After Receiving Photo of Woman Using Toes to Change TV Channels on Plane (Exclusive)

A woman has left passengers on a plane shocked after changing channels on her TV with her feet.

On December 22, Sarah Bengard, who goes by the username @eade_bengardhe posted the photo on x incident. The photo was taken by her younger brother who was on a flight to Hawaii. In the picture, a woman in pink and orange pants with a tie puts her bare feet on the sides of the television.

“This deserves a spot on the Do Not Fly list,” Bengard wrote alongside the photo.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Bengard recalls her reaction when her brother first sent her the photo.

“It made me want to choke,” she says. “Some people are so rude – it looks like satire. I also realized that people who wipe and disinfect every inch of their seat might not be so crazy after all.”

Bengard also says she shared the photo on social media to draw attention to plane etiquette. “I decided to share it because I think if you’re not afraid of what the entire flight thinks about your bare feet on screen, you probably aren’t afraid of what the internet thinks either,” she says.

She continues: “It’s also a dramatic example of how rude people behave on flights these days. She’s really one of the best people who doesn’t use headphones and makes her neighbors listen to random noise.”

This is not the first time someone has posted a photo of barefoot antics with a plane on social media.

In July 2019 The New York Times best-selling crime novelist Alafair Burke tweeted a video of a man on a plane scrolling through the in-flight entertainment system with his bare feet. The video — which also shows the man leaning back in a seat and resting both feet on the wall in front of him between spins of the touchscreen — quickly spread across the social media platform, where it has garnered more than 10.7 million views.

“This is the most disturbing thing I’ve seen on Twitter,” wrote one critic. “People are leaving the house and losing their damn minds,” added another.

While some wondered if the man on the plane was suffering from muscle damage, which in turn would have forced him to use his feet instead of his arms, Burke clarified in a follow-up post that her friend saw the man “getting in and out of the plane, carrying his own bag. ”

“He just likes to watch TV in his bare feet,” she wrote on Twitter.
