A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a boy was found dead in a housing estate.
Police raided a house in South Ockendon, Essex, yesterday afternoon following concerns about welfare reports.
Unfortunately, the boy found inside could not be saved and died soon after.
The woman was taken to the hospital, but in the meantime she was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Essex Police confirmed they are not currently looking for anyone else connected to the horror.
They have not yet released the age of the boy or the suspect.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Blakesley, who is leading the investigation, said: “First and foremost, this is a tragic incident where a child has lost their life, and I would ask the community of South Ockendon – and beyond – to refrain from speculating.
“Specialist officers and staff are continuing to build a picture of the events that led to yesterday’s 911 call.
“This will of course take some time and a thorough investigation is now underway.”
The police confirmed that officers will remain at the scene today while the investigation continues.
