50 Cent's 2 Kids: All About Marquise and Sire

50 Cent is the father of two children.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, had his first child, son Marquise Jackson, with Shaniqua Tompkins in 1996. 50 Cent’s second son, Sire Jackson, was born in 2012 to his then-partner Daphne Joy.

50 Cent became a father before he found success as a rapper. However, Marquise and 50 Cent have had a tumultuous relationship in the decades since. The two have been estranged for many years and much of their drama has played out on social media, most notably in 2018 when 50 Cent left a disturbing comment on his firstborn’s Instagram post.

On the other hand, 50 Cent seems to have a close relationship with his younger son Sire, with whom he has shared several photos over the years. In 2019, he posted a picture of himself and Sire for Father’s Day that read “Best friends forever!”

Currently, 50 Cent is seeking sole custody of his 12-year-old son due to allegations in Rodney Jones’ March 2024 lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs that Sire’s mother Joy worked as a sex worker, according to the rapper’s rep. Later that month, Joy accused her ex of physically and sexually assaulting her, though a rep for 50 Cent told PEOPLE the allegations were “false and baseless.”

Here’s everything you need to know about 50 Cent’s two sons.

50 Cent’s older son, Marquise, was born in October 1996 to the rapper and his then-girlfriend Tompkins. The “In Da Club” singer and Tompkins dated on and off throughout the ’90s before finally divorcing. The exes fought a protracted custody battle over Marquise and did not reach an official settlement until October 2008.

During the custody battle, 50 Cent told MTV in the summer of 2008 that his relationship with his son “is changing because he and his mom are not friends anymore.”

The artist added: “There are different channels that I have to go through. He has lawyers assigned to him by the court. So I have to talk to his lawyer to sort things out to actually catch him. The relationship between my wallet and his Mom has changed. When people they have expensive habits, it’s a hellish transition for them when that money is gone. She said all kinds of things about me.”

In the official custody agreement, 50 Cent was granted visitation rights and was allowed to see Marquise one weekend each month and to share holidays and vacations with Tompkins. However, a source told PEOPLE in 2018 that while the rapper supported his son until he turned 18, 50 Cent has been “estranged from his son for many years.”

Marquise told Rap-Up in 2017 that his relationship with his father “went completely off the rails” when he was “probably 10 or 11.” Marquise said, “He wasn’t around enough. It kind of got smaller as time went by and certain events happened. As for me, I just started feeling differently about him because my dad was a superhero when I was growing up. He’s on TV, he’s doing this, he’s doing this, he’d take me to school. It was like having a father who was Superman, more or less.”

He continued: “But then as I got older, you start to understand things or you start to see certain patterns and it affects your relationship with people. That’s what happened with me and my father. He’s still alive, but I can’t tell you our last conversation or when we last talked at all.”

In December 2018, their father-son relationship hit a new low when 50 Cent posted a disturbing comment on an Instagram photo of Marquise with the son of Kenneth “Supreme” McGriff, 50 Cent’s rival. (Criminal investigators previously alleged that McGriff was involved in a plot to kill 50 Cent that culminated in the rapper’s May 2000 shooting, a search warrant unsealed in 2005 revealed. McGriff is currently serving a life sentence on unrelated charges.)

50 Cent commented on the picture: “If both of these little p——s got hit by a bus, I wouldn’t have a bad day.”

A source later told PEOPLE that “people started commenting on the photo, tagging 50 and saying it was disrespectful.” The source said Marquise “does things like that to get a kick out of” his father, adding, “Every time 50 has a problem with anyone on social media, his son will look that person up and then show it to him.”

Following the reaction to his comment, 50 Cent published on X (formerly Twitter) that he had “zero ill will toward anyone living on this Earth.” The Power the actor continued: “The people Shanquois’ son looks up to and hangs out with are a reflection of the negative energy he accepts towards me. I paid his mother $1,360,000 in support to give him opportunities I never had.”

50 Cent and Marquise’s drama continued in October 2022, when Marquise offered his father $6,700 to spend 24 hours with him. “Since you all think $6,700 is a lot of money, someone tell my dad I’ll pay him $6,700 for just 24 hours of his time so we can do all the things I wanted to do with him as a kid,” he wrote on Instagram.

Later that month, 50 Cent appeared on The breakfast clubwhere he said his son did not want to sit down with him, explaining that he would call him, not TMZ to “say you want to sit down”.

50 Cent remarked, “If you sent somebody a million dollars in the mail, right, and they don’t have any respect for you, how much do you think you have to give them before they get some.” He also admitted that he doesn’t think “the relationship is working.”

After his father’s interview, Marquise wrote on Instagram: “Now you all see that I tried to reach out to my father to talk like a MAN in front 🌎 and behind the scenes. I don’t have a phone number for you and you’ve blocked me on social media for years so I can’t DM you personally, and everyone who is together is afraid to touch the subject, because they’re afraid of you. This seems to be the only way to reach you.”

He continued: “I’m not a child anymore. Without mom. I don’t want or need money from you. I stand on my own 2. I don’t like attention. I’ve had so many chances to get her and I’m not too picky. I saw the breakfast club interview and it didn’t sound like a lot of accountability, just ego, blame and more about money as if you were a child in that situation. Those text messages were ME. I was waiting for you outside, that was the day you broke my heart. I forgave you for that. I’m ready when you’re ready to sit down and talk.”

Through it all, Marquise followed in 50 Cent’s footsteps and began a music career. He released his first single “Different” in 2017 and has since dropped several tracks.

50 Cent’s second son, Sire, was born in September 2012. He shares Sire with his ex-girlfriend Joy.

The rapper and his younger son seem to enjoy a close relationship. On Father’s Day 2019, 50 Cent shared a photo of himself cuddling with Sire on Facebook, writing, “My little man is my friend, whenever he thinks something’s not right he goes 😟🤷🏽‍♂️can you please and just call my dad. LOL.”

Before Christmas that year, the “Candy Shop” artist treated Sire to a shopping spree at a Toy ‘R’ Us store that he had closed. Joy shared photos from the father and son outing on Sire’s Instagram page, which she runs. “When I asked my dad for the ‘ENTIRE Toys R Us Store’ for Christmas, I didn’t think he would actually do it, but he did 😱🤩❤️ Thank you Dad! The best Christmas ever! 😱🙏🏽 🎄 🎁”, reads the post.

50 Cent and Sire also walked the red carpet together. In January 2023, Sire joined his father at the premiere of the second season of the film BMF. The father-son duo coordinated in matching suits and ties for a night out in Los Angeles.

However, the rapper’s relationship with Sire’s mom Joy is full of problems. In March 2024, Joy accused her ex of sexual and physical assault. “Let’s put real focus on your truly evil acts of rape and physical abuse. You are no longer my oppressor and my God will take care of you from this moment forward,” she wrote on Instagram, adding, “You have permanently damaged the last hope I had for you as a father to save our family with these last and last false claims against me You broke our hearts for the last and last time.” 50 Cent has denied the claims.

Joy’s accusations against 50 Cent follow the rapper’s decision to seek sole custody of their son, Sire. According to the artist’s rep, 50 Cent is doing this because of allegations in Jones’ lawsuit against Diddy that Joy worked as a sex worker. (Joy has denied Jones’ claims against her.)

A rep for 50 Cent told PEOPLE in a statement, “The disturbing allegations in the affidavits recently filed in a court case involving Daphne Joy, the mother of my 12-year-old child, require me to take all necessary legal action to protect my son Sire.”

In 2013, the rapper was accused of domestic violence against Joy. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of vandalism stemming from an incident in which he allegedly punched Joy in the stomach and destroyed her property during an argument. 50 Cent struck a deal with Los Angeles prosecutors for three years of probation and 30 days of community service.
