Chris Jericho responds to CM Punk/Ace Steel’s lawyer
Following the backstage controversy in 2022, Stephen P. New, the attorney who defended Ace Steel and CM Punk following the AEW Brawl Out incident, engaged in a public debate with Chris Jericho on Xu (formerly known as Twitter). Their argument centers on New’s claim that Ace Steel’s wife was the only person involved in the backstage feud who did not sign a non-disclosure agreement after the incident.
This prompted Jericho to reveal that he had observed the events of the night in question, but had not signed any non-disclosure agreement (NDA). New referred to AEW’s employee handbooks, highlighting their “confidentiality provisions,” and claimed to have them. In response, Jericho challenged New’s claim, demanding that he back up the facts.
The facts of the event are unknown, although sources indicate that CM Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were involved in a violent brawl. As a result, the people involved were suspended and Steel lost his job. Although facts are scarce due to the stingy nature of the individuals involved, Jericho’s and New’s conflicting statements suggest different views of what happened.
