In April 2024, Halle revealed in a video on her Snapchat that she has been struggling with postpartum depression since having Halo. She said she got to the point where she felt like she couldn’t “be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes before I start to kind of freak out.”

“I have a difficult, difficult postpartum period [depression]”, said Halle. “And I don’t know if any new mom can agree, but it’s to the point where it’s really bad.”

She admitted that before she had her own child, she “didn’t realize how serious” postpartum depression was for new mothers.

“Going through it now, it feels like you’re swimming in this ocean that’s like the biggest waves you’ve ever felt and you’re trying not to drown. And you’re trying to get air,” she explained.

Halle added that social media “prompted” her to talk about some of the postpartum symptoms she was experiencing.

“I guess I was just fired up today – especially [since] “Social media is just not a good thing to be on after giving birth – but I was really encouraged today, especially when I saw some of the things that were said about me and my family,” she said.

Halle ended the video by urging others to be considerate of people’s feelings.

“Even though you might look up to certain people and think they’re celebrities, and they seem to have it all together, you never know what someone else is going through, especially someone who’s literally had a baby,” she said.

DDG chose the baby’s name Halo, Halle told PEOPLE in February 2024. She said they both fell in love with the name “Halo” and “just agreed” it was the right name.

“It was actually my boyfriend’s idea,” Bailey said at the time. “He’s the one who came up with his name.”

“Halo” is also the title of a song from Halle’s mentor Beyoncé’s 2008 album. I’m… Sasha Fierce. While Halle didn’t say there was any correlation between the song and the name Halo, she said her son “definitely has a theme song” to the Beyoncé song.
