American Airlines Flight Attendant Found Dead with Sock in Mouth Inside Philadelphia Hotel Room

An American Airlines flight attendant has been found dead at the Marriott Hotel at the Philadelphia airport, according to reports.

The 66-year-old woman, whose name has not yet been released, was reportedly found by house staff with a sock in her mouth on Monday at 10:45 p.m., according to ABC News.

Philadelphia Airport Marriott is directly connected to Philadelphia International Airport. Investigators told local ABC affiliate Action News there were no signs of entry or a struggle. Furthermore, the woman should have checked out two days before the tragic discovery. Investigators have labeled the death “suspicious,” but the cause of death has not yet been determined.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10 the woman is believed to have had a “sudden death.”

PEOPLE reached out to local authorities at American Airlines, Marriott and Philadelphia for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

“Everyone is still trying to figure out what happened and why her crew just abandoned her,” a source who works as a flight attendant for American Airlines told PEOPLE, noting that they learned the woman’s crew was in Los Angeles.

“Lots of moving parts and questions right now,” they added, “Very sad.”

“It’s very strange and it seems like a lot of unanswered questions,” local resident Tracee Quinn echoed to Action News.

“It’s very sad and I’m sad for her family that, you know, her body was found in a hotel,” resident Patricia Watkins said.

Investigators also shared that they found “several” sealed prescription bottles in the woman’s hotel room, FOX reports. Walter Perez, who reported live from the scene for Action News, noted that autopsy results are pending.
