On November 7, 2021, Martinez won the title of Miss Dominican Republic 2021, representing the Dominican community in the United States. The event was held at the Salón de Eventos Sambil in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where she competed against 14 other candidates.
Andreina Martínez, 24, was supposed to compete in Miss Universe 2021; however, it was later announced that she had contracted COVID-19, so she had to withdraw her name and go into quarantine. She was subsequently replaced by Miss Dominican Republic 2021 runner-up Debbie Aflalo, who went on to represent the Dominican Republic at the Miss Universe 2021 competition in Eilat, Israel, on December 12, 2021. Andreina was later designated as Miss Dominican Republic 2022 and is said to be competing in the 2022 edition.

On January 15, 2023, 25-year-old Martinez represented the Dominican Republic in the 2022 Miss Universe competition held at the Ernest Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, USA, competing against 83 other candidates. During the competition, she was asked about the most significant obstacles women face in her country and what should be done about it. To this, Andreina replied:
I believe the most significant barrier facing women in our country is access to education. There are a lot of women and children in our country who don’t go to school and don’t have the opportunity to go to school, and I think we should do something about that now. We need to make sure that kids can be kids, that they want to play, that they want to educate themselves. Not a mother, not a wife. Now is the time to take action. “
During the Miss Universe 2022 finals, Andreina Martinez was asked how she would work to prove that “Miss Universe is an empowering and progressive organization” if she wins. What surprised everyone was that she

In 2016, Andreina served as an academic tutor, teaching Spanish to foreign students studying at City College, City University of New York until 2020. In 2016, she became an ambassador for the nonprofit organization America Needs You. In 2017, Martinez interned for four months under New York State Senator Jose Serrano. From September 2017 to May 2018, she worked as a health educator at Peer Health Exchange, providing health education to high school students in grades 9 to 12. In 2018, Andreina served as a Capitol Hill intern for Senator Kristen E. Gillibrand in Washington, DC. It was in the office of Senator Kristen Gillibrand that she discovered her passion for protecting women’s rights and became an advocate for public policies that advance women.
