Ben Affleck Taking Break from Filming to Spend Thanksgiving with Kids: 'He's Very Happy with Life' (Exclusive Source)

Ben Affleck is taking a break to celebrate Thanksgiving with his kids.

The Oscar winner is currently in the middle of shooting his upcoming film RIP with pal Matt Damon, seen on set earlier this week in Los Angeles.

A source tells PEOPLE, “He’s very happy with life. He’s enjoying working. He’s going to spend Thanksgiving with his kids.”

Affleck and Damon are also producing the crime thriller RIPwhich was also shot in New Jersey and also stars Teyana Taylor and FlashI’m Sasha Calle.

A set insider says Affleck was “in a great mood and super fun to work with.”

“They [Affleck and Damon] are a great team. You can tell they enjoy working together. Ben looks great too. He seems to be in a good place,” says the insider.

Affleck, 52, has three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, who turns 19 on Dec. 1, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. On Wednesday, Nov. 27, Garner, 52, revealed that their family dog Birdie died shortly after Violet returned home from college for the holidays.

This is Affleck’s first Thanksgiving since Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce in August, citing their separation date as April 26, after less than two years of marriage.

Lopez, 55, is mother to 16-year-old twins Max and Emma with ex-husband Marc Anthony. The source said in August that Unstoppable the actress is still “particularly close” to Affleck’s children, while he has “not been in contact with her children.” The couple has not yet finalized the divorce.

A source said earlier in August that Affleck’s rekindling of his decades-old romance with Lopez before they tie the knot in 2022 has helped him “become a family man again.” The source added: “Family is very important to both of them, and they were family people together – and the relationship doesn’t stop.”

While talking to PEOPLE earlier this month about JLo Beauty launching a range of holiday sets, Lopez explained why she enjoys the holiday season with loved ones. “We don’t get to see each other all year, so we catch up on what everyone is doing and what life is like. It’s just beautiful weather. I really enjoy it.”

“It’s been a pretty intense year for me and I’m most looking forward to spending time with my kids and family coming from the East Coast,” she added.

“The holidays are such a special time for us and always have been since I was a little girl. And I really look forward to those moments when I can be with my sisters and just relax, have fun and create new memories.”
