Music producer Benny Blanco is changing his tune about the popular Filipino fast food chain.
Jollibee quickly expanded to 73 locations in the US, including 31 in California. It’s known for its fried chicken — known as Chicken Joy — and its Filipino take on spaghetti (using hot dogs and a sweet sauce) and dessert pies (filled with mango or ube instead of apple).
Blanco often posts about fast food on his TikTok account, usually while or after smoking weed, and he didn’t have many positive things to share in a video review posted late last week.
In the video, titled “trying Jollibee for the first time”, Blanco revealed that his stepmother is Filipino and that he grew up eating “a lot of Filipino food”. After saying that adobo rice “tastes like ass”, he slandered the popular chicken, which he called “wet as a dick” before continuing to dunk his pineapple drink.
His initial review was viewed more than 5 million times with many comments criticizing his stance.
“Benny, your verbatim review of Jollibee is my verbatim review of you π₯²,” read the main comment, which garnered 88,000 likes.
“You just made enemies with that Jollibee disrespect,” another commenter responded.
Timeline of Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s relationship
Others dropped Blanco’s girlfriend Selena Gomez, with whom he was first linked in December 2023.
“Really Selena??π,” one person wrote. “Selena, run,” another warned her.
The 35-year-old may have been wary of the backlash because the very next day, he posted a follow-up video titled “Filipino food take 2,” in which he did a complete 180.
“Bullshit,” Blanco declared after taking two large bites of a Jollibee chicken sandwich. “Not only is this sandwich so good, but I’m completely changing my mind about how bad it was. You could go there just for this,” he said, taking another big bite.
Fans were divided on his face turn.
“He knew he needed to make amends,” one fan wrote on another video.

“We all know he’s sarcastic,” replied another.
Blanco shares her recipes in her upcoming cookbook, Wide Open: A Cookbook for Friends. No word on whether or not the book features Filipino food.
