Chloe Bailey Surprised to Learn She Can Make Money on TikTok Live: 'Now How Do I Collect That?'

The “FYS” singer was shocked after learning that TikTok stickers can translate into real dollars

Chloe Bailey got a surprise when she launched a TikTok Live stream on Tuesday.

Earlier this week, the 25-year-old “FYS” singer appeared on TikTok Live for over an hour, chatting with her fans and sharing updates about her music and other happenings.

But when fans started sending her flowers and hearts, Bailey quickly realized that livestream viewers weren’t just sending their love — they were sending her monetary gifts.

“Oh, this is the money you all send me? She’s not just a cute little one [emojis?]”, she said, falling silent.

“Oh, that’s why they say, ‘Ice cream, yum, yum, thanks for the roses!'” the singer and actress realized, harkening back to a viral moment in 2023, when social media users were inspired by TikTokers like Pinkydoll to ” act like the characters non-players” to earn gifts based on the emojis of their live viewers.

“How do I collect it?” she half-jokingly asked her audience as she tried to figure out how to find the funds her fans were sending her. “Wait a minute!”

“A dollar makes me scream,” Bailey continued, laughing at the jokes her viewers made. “You’re forcing me to get some money for talking? You all like me that much?”

“Someone said, ‘Come back here,'” she finished the short clip from Live. “I will come back here every day!”

For those who are in the same boat as the “Do It” singer and want to know how to collect any funds they may have received from live streaming, TikTok says it works like this: Stickers and Diamonds, or gifts that fans can send to their favorite TikTok creators , each with its own monetary value, ranging from 99 cents to over $500.

TikTok viewers buy these gifts using coins, and at the end of the live stream, creators can see in their settings how much they have received in gifts in the “balance” tab of the app’s settings before transferring their money to their bank account.

Halle and Chloe Bailey Say Working on New Music for 2024 Was ‘Very Nostalgic’ (Exclusive)

Outside of TikTok, Bailey and her sister Halle Bailey recently talked about their upcoming projects, teasing in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in February that she has some music releases on the horizon.

“I would definitely just say you’re going to see new music and new projects, and see more of us together,” Halle teased. “It’s more of a blessing, and we’re really grateful and excited to continue.”

“The possibilities are endless, and I’m really proud of my sister, and I’m proud of myself,” Chloe added. “We still have a long way to go, so we’ll keep pushing.”

The pair also called their upcoming ventures together “nostalgic” – like their last project together, their album An ungodly hour came out almost four years ago.

“We’re definitely working on really exciting things together and it was very nostalgic,” Chloe teased. “It brings us back to our roots and we can’t wait to introduce it to the world.”
