Chris Hemsworth and Ryan Reynolds Tease That They Know More About Marvel's Future: 'I Can Keep Secrets'

If Chris Hemsworth knows anything about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he won’t say.

After Hemsworth’s superhero, Thor made the briefest appearance in Ryan Reynolds’ latest film Deadpool & Wolverineboth Reynolds, 47, and Hemsworth, 40, are teasing fans on X to know more details about the future of Marvel.

“I know why Thor cried. I can’t not know that,” Reynolds wrote in one post on Wednesday, July 31, to which Hemsworth responded the next day, “I can keep secrets too 🤫.”

A moment from Deadpool & Wolverine in question comes early in the film, after Reynolds’ Deadpool is summoned by Matthew Macfadyen’s Mr. Paradox and briefly shown a theoretical future for the Avengers if Deadpool joins the MCU. In one humorous moment, Deadpool watches a video that shows an emotional Thor holding Deadpool and crying.

Marvel Studios has begun publicly charting directions for the future the Avengers title at San Diego Comic-Con on July 27, when the studio revealed that Robert Downey Jr. to rejoin the series to play the villain Victor von Doom / Doctor Doom. The next two the Avengers movies, now called Avengers: Judgment Day and Avengers: Secret Warsare expected in cinemas in 2026 and 2027 respectively.

Hemsworth last reprized his role as Thor in 2022 Love and thunder. He has yet to confirm when or if he will reprise the character, though he told ComicBook.com that he is waiting for more details from the studio.

“I’ve loved every second of working in the Marvel Universe and if there’s more to come, then I’m excited about it. Nothing’s official yet,” he told the news outlet. “I’m kind of waiting for the phone call and, and I’m waiting for the news to see, let’s see what happens. But, you know, I love it.”

As the world waits for more details about the future of the Avengers, Deadpool & Wolverine turned out to be the biggest R-rated box office opening of all time after its July 26 release. The film also featured a cameo from another Avenger in Chris Evans, who surprised fans by briefly reprising his role from the 2000s era Fantastic Four movies.
