CLAT 2024 Exam Day Guidelines
CLAT 2024: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLU) will conduct the Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) on December 3, 2023. The authorities have released the guidelines for the exam dates in the online mode. Instructions include bell timing, code of conduct, cover rules, etc. Candidates appearing for CLAT 2024 must read the instructions carefully and follow them.
The exam will be held offline for admission to 24 national law universities and more than 60 affiliated law schools. CLAT 2024 will be conducted in 131 cities in 23 states and 4 union territories across the country. CLAT 2024 results will be accepted by 24 national law universities offering admission to BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB and B.Sc LLB and LLM courses.
CLAT 2024 Dress Code
Candidates taking the exam must check what they must and must not wear:
- Candidates must wear half-sleeved shirts without large buttons to conceal hidden items.
- Candidate must wear light colored clothes
- He/she should wear either slippers or sandals
- They are not allowed to bring any valuable items to the exam center
- They must refrain from wearing lockets, chains, nose pins, rings, etc.

CLAT 2024 Exam Day Guidelines
Check below general guidelines for CLAT 2024 exam:
- Candidates must carry their CLAT 2024 admit card along with a valid ID to the examination hall.
- Candidates must arrive at least 1 hour before the start of the exam.
- Candidates will not be allowed to enter after 15 minutes from the start of the exam.
- Candidates have to sign their CLAT admit cards in front of the invigilator.
- They should not carry prohibited items such as electronic devices and others.
- He/she will be allowed to leave the exam hall only after the exam time has expired.
CLAT 2024 Exam Day Guidelines – Bell Time
Check the type of bells and their times below:
Time | Type of bell | Purpose |
13:00 | A long bell | Allowing candidates to enter the exam center |
1:30 p.m | A long bell | Allowing candidates to enter the hall/classroom |
1:50 p.m | Short bell | – Distribution of sealed envelopes – Publication of instructions by the Invigilator |
14:00 hours | A long bell | Start of the test. Candidates may open sealed envelopes |
14:15 | Short bell | No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination center after this time |
15:00 hours | Short bell | It marks the end of the 60 (sixty) minute test |
15:50 | Short bell | A warning bell indicating that there are 10 (ten) minutes left until the end of the test |
4:00 p.m | A long bell | Indicates the end of the test. No candidate will be allowed to write anything on the OMR Answer Sheet/Question Booklet after this bell |
