Gerry Turner keeps it classic.
The Golden Bachelor chose the traditional route for his second chance at love and his second trip down the aisle. He chose a chic black tuxedo to propose to Theresa Nist, winner of his final rose at the inaugural season The Golden Bachelor.
While Turner, 72, kept his wedding attire simple, Nist, 70, stood out in a glamorous gown. She chose a “traditional and modern” Badgley Mischka dress.

Although Turner originally thought about wearing a blue suit to the wedding, “we talked one night and came to the conclusion that a black tuxedo would look a little more formal,” he told PEOPLE. “And there I go, black tuxedo.”
Nist chose her dress with the help of several loved ones and colleagues The Golden Bachelor contestants Susan Noles and Kathy Swarts.
“I got these incredibly beautiful dresses from Badgley Mischka and I was blown away,” Nist told PEOPLE. “I asked each of these beautiful women to pick their favorite. And then I chose three of my own and went down the stairs with them. And as for the dress, they unanimously thought this was a good dress. I think Susan was so proud because I chose it!”
Nist’s ultimate gold wedding dress was a romantic choice fit for a princess on her big day. She was surrounded by her bridesmaids who all wore light blue Badgley Mischka dresses that matched her aesthetic.

This is the second wedding for Nist and Turner. Nist first married William “Billy” Nist when she was 18 before he was drafted into the Vietnam War. They were married for more than 42 years before he died in 2014.
Turner was also married to his wife Toni Turner for more than 40 years, before she died in 2017.

In addition to traditional wedding dresses, the couple also sticks to tradition when it comes to their big day. Nist told PEOPLE when she and her groom-to-be made their red carpet debut last year that there was one thing she would definitely include.
“Oh, I’m definitely going to do the bouquet toss,” she said, before adding with a laugh, “There’s a lot of women who want to catch that bouquet.”
Turner agreed with her, and Nist added, “I think we’re going to do all the traditional things that you normally do at a wedding.”

The Golden BachelorGerry Turner and Theresa Nist ‘married’ Mark Consuelos: See what they wore
Turner told PEOPLE last year that he is committed to giving his bride-to-be the wedding of her dreams.
“See, you’ve got to remember, Theresa didn’t make it—when she was first around, she didn’t have much time to plan, and neither did I, really,” Turner said.
Nist and her first husband planned their wedding in three days, she previously told PEOPLE, since he was “mobilized during the Vietnam War” while she was still a “freshman in college.” They got married when she was 18 and he was 20.
Turner and his first wife, who died of cancer in 2017, also married young.
»We didn’t have much time and [we were] we’re pretty broke, both of us,” he said of his and Nist’s previous weddings. “So this is kind of big. We want to do it so that we don’t miss a single moment.”

The most romantic things The Golden Bachelor Fiancés Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have said about each other
Turner dropped to one knee in the inaugural season finale The Golden Bachelor last year, proposing Nist. He handed her a golden rose—one that would never wither—and told her he “couldn’t live without” it.
He proposed with a Neil Lane princess-cut diamond ring, telling PEOPLE it was the perfect choice for his bride-to-be.
“The symbolism of it is so important,” Turner said. “It was like, as soon as she put it on, again, it was like, ‘Oh, my God, this is this joyful happiness that I want to feel, that I want everyone to see.'”
