Daisy Edgar-Jones Says Chemistry with Jacob Elordi in On Swift Horses Was 'Not Hard': 'He's Just So Charismatic'

Daisy Edgar-Jones gives credit where credit is due.

At the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the actress took part in a Q&A on Saturday, September 7, when she described what her chemistry with Jacob Elordi was like in the 1950s drama. On fast horseswhich had its world premiere at that event.

“It’s not hard to create chemistry with Jacob,” she explained to Saltburn actor, “because he’s just so charismatic.”

Edgar-Jones, 26, added filming scenes that focus on the “interpersonal dynamics” and “relationships between” her and Elordi’s characters are “so subtle and clever.”

“What I loved about this script was that it almost felt like I was reading poetry and so much of what was going on was in the subtext,” she continued.

“So, I think in a way [director Daniel Minahan] shot, the way he gave us space to get to know each other and play, and all of Jacob and I’s early scenes in the film were shot first, which was great,” Jones said, especially since their characters are closely related and were soon separated for most of the film.

Elordi, 27, added that he enjoyed drawing on his “cowboy” persona and reiterated that their chemistry was “right there”.

He said that when he “had to audition for a movie with Dan and Daisy, it was more like a workshop and we danced and [played] cards. Right at that moment it was pretty clear that we were going to be able to find that connection.”

According to the film’s official synopsis, the film follows “newlyweds Muriel (Edgar-Jones) and Lee (Will Poulter) who begin a new life when he returns from the Korean War. However, their newfound stability is shaken by the arrival of Lee’s charismatic younger brother, Julius [Elordi]a wayward gambler with a secret.”

“A dangerous love triangle soon forms as the three vow to start a new life together in California, but their pursuit of the American dream is thwarted when Julius disappears and heads to Las Vegas instead,” the synopsis continues. “Muriel embarks on a secret life of her own, gambling on racehorses and discovering a love she never thought possible.”
