David Babaii News

Babaii most recently served as the chief global creative director of N:p Beautiful, a company independent of a well-known actress. Ten haircare products and three styling tools were part of its line, which was purchased by Revolve, Target, HSN, and Bloomingdale’s. While conducting interviews for the release of N:p Beautiful in 2018, Babaii made light of his clientele by telling Vogue, “They say David, you’re the bad boyfriend in Hollywood. You make us love you, but then you’re never available.

Before it became commonplace in the haircare sector, Babaii worked to make sure the ingredients in his products were pure and that no animals or the environment were harmed during their manufacturing. 10% of sales from David Babaii for WildAid were donated to the charity WildAid, and its formulae were free of sulphates, parabens, and petrochemicals.

Babaii told Allure that while creating N:p Beautiful, “I went to the locations—planes, boats, trains, a donkey—to see that it was assisting the communities. I didn’t want anyone to label me a b****. I wanted it to be made using high-quality, sustainable ingredients. Like David Babaii for WildAid, N:p Beautiful donates 10% of sales to charitable organisations. It advocates for the prevention of pancreatic cancer and the welfare of animals.

Iran-born Babaii, who was raised in the Los Angeles region and revealed to Mane Addicts that as a young child, he shadowed his mother at her salon, earned a degree in hotel management and worked as the beverage director at a global chain of opulent hotels before starting his career as a hairstylist.

In a 2016 interview with The Cut, Babaii claimed that while the position of beverage director wasn’t rewarding, he didn’t believe his parents would “be cool” with his going into the hairdressing industry. “But my mum was like, ‘What don’t you start taking classes and get into it?” remarked Babaii. He made the decision to enrol in the Sassoon Academy’s hairdressing programme.

The publicist for Hudson, Brad Cafarelli, cleared the way for Babaii to reach Hollywood. After cutting Cafarelli’s hair, he handled Hudson’s hair for the Golden Globes just two weeks after graduating from beauty school, earning him the title of “King of Curls” in the press. He soon became a hairstylist for Peter Lindbergh-shot photo sessions for Vogue Italia.

For the WildAid and N:p Beautiful campaigns, Babaii hired Lindbergh for David Babaii. At the renowned salons Chris McMillan, Neil George, and Sharon Dorram Colour at Sally Hershberger Salon, Babaii worked for a short time. When Babaii joined the now-defunct Neil George in 2009, co-owner Neil Weisberg recalled to Women’s Wear Daily that he had only worked with Babaii at Chris McMillan for four weeks due of Babaii’s schedule.
