She was allegedly shot dead by hotel owner Abhijeet Singh in a room at City Point Hotel in Gurgaon on January 3, 2024. According to some sources, Abhijit Singh shot her during an argument over her mobile phone password. After checking the CCTV footage, the local police found that around 11:45 pm on January 3, 2024, Abhijit was seen taking out something wrapped in a blanket from the hotel room, which was presumed to be Divya’s body. The hotel owner and two other men named Balraj and Ravi then threw the body into a blue BMW. According to local police, Divya took some obscene photos of Abhijit and tried to blackmail him. According to some reports, she had been extorting money from him to pay legal fees and support the family; she allegedly withdrew Rs. While associated with Singh, he received Rs 6 lakh from him. When Abhijit asked her to give her phone password and delete the photos, she refused to do so, after which Abhijit shot her. However, Divya’s family filed a complaint against Sandeep Gadolia’s family, accusing them of murdering Divya for her involvement in Sandeep’s fake encounter. In 2016, she reported Sandeep to the Haryana police, who was later shot dead in a fake encounter at a Mumbai hotel, according to Mumbai police. In 2016, she was arrested for fake encounters with Sandeep and spent about seven years in jail before being released on bail in 2023.
