Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay’s Husband Bryan Abasolo Files for Divorce After 4 Years of Marriage

BachelorRachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo have split after more than six years together.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the chiropractor, 43, filed for divorce in Los Angeles, citing Sunday as the separation date and citing “irreconcilable differences.”

“After more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to separate and start over,” Abasolo wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. “My parents have been married forever and I’m a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means letting go. I wanted you to hear it from the source before blogs start making up their own reality. Please respect our family’s spaces and friends as we figure out the next steps.”

A day before news of the divorce broke, Lindsay, 38, posted on her Instagram Story from fitness studio Barry’s Bootcamp, writing that she had been “sweating everything since 2023.”

In Nick Viall’s December episode Viall files podcast, Lindsay explained why she and Abasolo — who met during her season Bachelor in 2017 and married in August 2019 — keeping their relationship mostly private.

“We don’t stand out at all [except] maybe an anniversary or a holiday, but I think I did it because people were so critical of us when we came off the show,” Lindsay Viall, 43, told.

The Real love the author also said she wants to be purposeful about what she shares. “Marriage has its ups and downs, but you never know when we’re good or when we’re not because we never bring it up,” Lindsay continued. “I want to stay that way, so when I want to share something, I do.”

After leaving Bachelorthe couple lived on opposite coasts, with Lindsay in Los Angeles working on her career while Abasolo focused on his chiropractor business in Miami.

“I didn’t move to LA because I just love the city,” Lindsay told Abasola on her dr. Abs Healthcast podcast. “You focus on your practice and build it in the place you want it to be, and I’m here in LA working for Extra and doing other things, and we’re doing this to get our act together in the end.”

At the time, they emphasized that they did not plan to live apart forever, saying they “have a timeline.”

“We know where we’re going, we know where we’re headed and we know what we’re trying to build as Abasolos,” Lindsay said. (At the time of the split, the couple lived together in LA)

In 2020, Lindsay admitted that self-isolation during the coronavirus outbreak had put a strain on their relationship. “Absolutely, we’ve had arguments. Absolutely,” she said during an appearance on Realitea with Derek Z. – We get on each other’s nerves.

However, the reality star previously told PEOPLE that the quarantine together brought them closer.

“We’ve definitely gotten closer because we’re planning for the future,” Lindsay said in September 2020. “We’re starting to have those conversations about where we’re going to put down roots and have kids and what the timeline is.”

Back in November, Lindsay said that she and Absolo were planning to start a family together.

“It’s something we want,” said the lawyer-turned-entertainment correspondent Hey! News. “It was harder than I thought it would be. We’re trying. You think, ‘Oh yeah, when I’m ready, I’ll make it happen.’ But it was just a little harder for us. But we’re definitely starting the process.”

Lindsay said she feels excited to blend her culture with Abasol’s Colombian background “to create this unit together.”
