Every time Tabitha Miller and her husband get a new dog, their dog Frankie is key to welcoming them into their home.
Two weeks ago, Miller posted a video on TikTok of Frankie being rocked by Tillie, the family’s newest pet. “Frankie is an ambassador when we get a new dog,” reads the text on the adorable video, which has garnered more than 700,000 views on the social networking platform.
The North Carolinians have been fostering dogs together for more than two decades, and found Frankie in the Bay Area when they lived in Northern California for two years.
“It happened and it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” Miller tells PEOPLE. “I had tears in my eyes and I said, ‘I really have to have this dog.'”
Frankie, who is 25% Chihuahua and part terrier, has had that role with the couple’s previous puppies, starting with another Chihuahua named Daphne.

Miller says Daphne is “basically what my husband calls a fur panic attack.”
When the couple moved to their current home outside of Charlotte, Frankie also became an “ambassador” for Reba, whom Miller calls a “sweet potato with legs.”
“Everyone just follows Frankie around and kind of learns how to be a dog,” she says, adding that Frankie has also helped their three cats, Rey, Reggie and Freddie, get along with the puppies.

After her husband worked from home for several years, Miller, a former school principal, also found work remotely, designing literacy and science curriculum. Then they decided to adopt Tillie from a local shelter.
Miller says Tillie, who is 9 months old and weighs 56 lbs, is “such a big dork.”

“She’s really thin and she moves very awkwardly and she can’t reach yet. She’s getting there; it’s just a lot,” he says.
The couple must walk Tillie twice a day, otherwise, “She’s just into everything.”
“She’s very interested in a lot of things, she’s curious, and she really wants to be friends with cats,” Miller adds. “They’re not ready for her yet because she’s a lot bigger. And I feel like she doesn’t know she’s that big. But she’s super sweet, she’s really obedient. She’ll listen, she wants to be everyone’s friend, she’s cuddly, she’s crazy. I call her ‘ crazy Tillie’. She’s fantastic.”

As for Frankie, Miller says the dog is “super laid back” and “has enough attitude to make life really interesting.”

Sometimes the couple will push Frankie in the stroller because she has “tiny” legs and is getting slower over the years.
– We let her walk as far as she could, and then we put her in a stroller – explains Miller. “She’ll be in a pram, and she looks like she’s entitled to be in a pram.”
“And then suddenly someone walks by with a dog, and she starts barking at them from the stroller,” he adds. “I’m like” “Dude, that’s not convincing to anyone.” So I laugh at Frankie probably three, four times a day.”
