In an Instagram post on Thursday, Flip or flop alum (42) shared a memory of a photo from his high school days when he was a football player. In the video, she has a striking platinum blonde hairdo.

Following the video, his wife Heather (36) immediately got involved in the comments and wrote: “😍😍😍😍 we would have totally dated in high school 🔥🔥🔥🔥”, after which Tarek jokingly replied: “I’m not so sure I would get hitched 😎”

Other users also raved about the HGTV star’s blonde look, asking him to “bring back the frozen tips!!!” in the comments.

While Tarek’s post definitely got fans fired up about seeing his younger self, the HGTV star’s caption focused on reflecting on how different his life has become since then.

“The pandemic has forced many to miss their 20s [high school] reunion,” he wrote. “I can’t believe it’s been over 27 years since I took this photo. Time has flown by and so much has changed and so much has happened. If I’ve learned one thing, it’s that all the things I used to worry about didn’t matter anyway.”

He concluded, “If anyone knows how to find a school reunion planner let me know lol. And a big shout out to all my Sunny Hills High Lancers!”

In 2024, the HGTV star was busy promoting her new memoir Turn your life around (published February 6), which documents some of the darker times of his high school experience, including when he was arrested and briefly charged with attempted murder after a gang fight.

He opens up about growing up in a rough neighborhood and how it shaped his experiences. “It’s part of my story,” he told PEOPLE ahead of the book’s release. “We’re all a product of our environment, and I grew up in that environment. To thrive in that environment, you have to do certain things.”

Tarek and Heather are also filming the second season Agile El Moussas with Heather The pair have been having fun completely transforming shabby properties for the show – and sneaking in cheeky photo ops on set whenever they can.

After meeting for the first time on a boat trip in July 2019 and hitting it off instantly, Tarek and Heather tied the knot in a Santa Barbara wedding ceremony in October 2021.

The couple welcomed their first child together, son Tristan, 1, in January 2023. Heather is also stepmother to Tarek’s older children — Taylor, 13, and Brayden, 8 — from his previous marriage to ex Christina Hall.
