Here Are the Top U.S. Destinations Most Likely to Have a White Christmas, According to Travel Experts

If you dream of a white Christmas, travel experts have selected where you should spend the holidays this year.

Fairbanks, Alaska, has a 100% chance of seeing snow this Christmas, according to a survey by car rental company SIXT, followed by Duluth, Minnesota, with a 92.2% chance and Bozeman, Montana, with a 91.1% chance.

After that, other places across the United States that could turn into a winter wonderland in a few weeks include Marquette, Michigan (88.2%), Caribou, Maine (87.2%), Idaho Falls, Idaho (80.1% ), Fargo, North Dakota (77.6%), Eau Claire, Wisconsin (72.3%) and Burlington, Vermont (62.3%).

According to SIXT, the company analyzed data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on normal US climate conditions to come up with its findings. The group also said there had been a 224% increase in Google searches for “white Christmas” across the country in the past month, according to its own research.

“Whether you’re curling up by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate, sledding or building a snowman outdoors, a white Christmas adds a special touch to those visiting a new destination,” Kelly Johnson, senior vice president of North American marketing, said in a statement.

She adds, “Being able to wake up to a snowy landscape on December 25 and enjoy the cozy rituals of the holiday season [is the best].”
