Jason Kelce Teases His Monday Night Football Wardrobe: 'Do I Have to Wear a Suit?'

Flip flops and flip flops? Or a suit and tie?

The question remains: What will Jason Kelce wear for his Monday Night Football debut?

The retired Philadelphia Eagles star, 36, joins Monday night countdown this season, fans can’t wait to find out what his wardrobe will be like.

“Do I have to wear a suit?” Kelce jokingly asked the ESPN executive when PEOPLE asked him what fans can expect from his on-air wardrobe during media day on Aug. 28.

“It’s hard to answer because I don’t even know what I’m going to wear tomorrow, let alone what I’m going to wear in two weeks,” he added.

Kelce, who has become known for his casual look, most notably his flip-flops and T-shirts, said in the press room that there is a difference between off-duty and on-duty attire.

“I’m very, usually when I’m not in a professional setting or something where my image represents another company, I’m concerned about what I’m wearing,” he said. “I wear what’s comfortable, what I think is functional, that’s something I want to wear, because it’s honestly easy to wear.”

However, Kelce joked that his ever-popular sandals were purely a result of laziness. He wears them because he doesn’t have to “bend down to put on his socks”.

What she will actually wear on TV, everyone will have to wait and see.

“It will be interesting to see how it goes for me,” he teased. “I’m just going to try to wear things that represent, I guess, what I like and what ESPN will let me wear.”

Kelce has officially entered his MNF performance at Disney’s upfront event in May.

“I feel amazing,” he said on stage at the event. “I know what it takes to be great – it takes a great team. I am beyond excited to be a part of all the shenanigans that will happen this season.”

He will walk towards his chair Monday night countdown when the season starts on September 9.
