Jennifer Aniston looked Picture perfect on the 2024 Emmys red carpet.
But everything — including her sparkly dress, side-swept curls and megawatt smile — took second place to her long lashes, which were so voluminous we assumed they were extensions. But to our surprise, they were the product of layering two mascaras from a designer brand that Kendall Jenner also uses.
To give her that gorgeous look, makeup artist Angela Levin used three coats of Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara on her upper lashes, plus Chanel Inimitable Mascara on her lower lashes, the former of which was also used on Brie Larson and Naomi Watts for the award, by brand. The reason for two separate products? “This allowed the light to show the brilliance of her eyes,” Levin said in a press release.

As its name suggests, Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara serves to increase volume. It’s formulated with natural lash-enhancing waxes and quick-drying acacia gum to hold curls, according to the brand. Its brush has short and long bristles that “make the application so even and easy to apply,” according to one customer. Another reviewer said the mascara was “amazing,” giving their lashes the look of “[growing] by almost inches.”
Expert tip: Warm your fingers and gently press your lashes upwards. Why? That’s what Levin did, and as a result, “the mascara warmed up a little bit and melted, allowing the curl to be really locked in,” she said.
The volumizing mascara comes in three colors, although one is currently sold out. Levin used the Noir, or black, shade on Aniston, which is still available. There is also a nice blue color, which would look nice with brown eyes.
The $40 price tag is more than we’d usually want to pay for mascara, but it’s definitely cheaper than eyelash extensions and less uncomfortable than sticking on store-bought fake lashes.

We don’t know the order in which Levin applied the products, but we do know that the second mascara used was Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir Brun, a dark brown shade. This mascara not only adds volume, but helps keep each lash separate from each other, so there are no clumps or clumps. Contact mascara users will be happy to know that this mascara is ophthalmologist tested, so it’s safe to use in your routine.
