Jinger Duggar Vuolo and her husband Jeremy Vuolo are opening up about their 4-year-old daughter Evangeline’s recent medical scare.
In the latest episode The Jinger & Jeremy Podcastthe couple – who are expecting their third child – detailed Evangeline’s rush to the emergency room during a trip to Texas.
The counting on The alum, 30, said they had “a little problem with one of our kids,” adding, “[Evangeline] ended up in the ER and that was a bit of a scare… These things happen and you have to take the curveballs as they come. Luckily, she was fine.”
“She just had a little episode of something, where the doctor even thought maybe she inhaled something and aspirated a piece of food and it got stuck there,” she added. “By the time she got the steroid and everything, she was breathing well again.”

Jeremy, 37, recalled how he realized his daughter needed medical attention after hearing her cough.
“I heard her coughing. It’s 10:30 in the evening,” he said. “It’s almost like whooping cough. I run into her room… and she is, somehow, hunched over [and] he was struggling to breathe and the cough was, like, hard to get in and out. So I grab her and run [to go to the hospital].”
“It was a really scary feeling, except she wasn’t breathing well,” Jinger added. “I think we weren’t even sure if it was asthma [and] if something like that was because you had asthma as a child.”
After the doctors did the initial tests, Jeremy noted that “she’s fine, she’s stable.”

“She didn’t turn blue; that’s what I was looking for, and the scary thing about asthma is that your breathing starts to get constricted and it gets smaller and smaller, and it can happen quickly,” he added.
The medical scare came as a surprise to the couple. Jinger explained, “I think what really caught us off guard was that she wasn’t sick at all before. She had the best day — no signs of a cold, no signs of anything that would make you think, ‘Oh, she’s sick.'”
“We were really grateful that she was able to do everything well,” she added. “They just gave her a steroid and said if it’s Croup it might help. Whatever they gave her helped her so much and we still don’t know exactly what it was.”
The couple hope to “get to the bottom” of what caused the incident and get more tests to rule out asthma or allergies.

Jeremy explained that while the news “was something we expected”, he was “still shocked”.
“When she told me, I was literally speechless,” he added. “She fixed me up. It was on Felicity’s birthday. Jinger says, ‘I have a present for you.’ It was in an Amazon bag, so I’m thinking, ‘What did Amazon get for me?’ Then I open it and it’s a positive result, and I’m actually speechless.”
