Cause of death of John Berylson
John Berylson died aged 70 in a tragic accident on 4th July 2023. Millwall’s statement read:
“John, who turned 70 last month, lost his life in a tragic accident on Tuesday morning.
“John’s sudden and tragic death will no doubt affect all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
“He was a truly great man, incredibly dedicated to his family and a person of such exceptional generosity, warmth and kindness.
“He lived a rich life, full of color and joy, and was endlessly thoughtful of others with an endless desire to share his vast knowledge and experience to help people.
“Rest in peace, John, and thank you. You were loved and adored.”
League leaders said:
“The EFL is shocked and saddened by the news and offers its deepest sympathies to John’s family and everyone associated with Millwall.”
Former right-back Alan Dunne said:
“My deepest condolences not only to my longtime president but also to my friend.
“John was the gentleman who put Millwall back on the map. We will always remember what he did for the club and I can only thank him for everything he has done for me and MILLWALL.”

Millwall owner John Berylson passed away on July 4, 2023. The cause of his death was an accident and he breathed his last at the age of 70.
John is survived by his wife Amy Berylson and his three children Jennifer, James and Elizabeth.

Millwall FC said in a statement: “He was a truly great man, incredibly devoted to his family. He was a person of such extraordinary generosity, warmth and kindness.”
Millwall FC have not released any further information on the death of John Berylson.
