Keke Palmer and Ex Darius Jackson Agree to Postpone Court Date So They Can Attend Mediation

Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson requested a postponement of the restraining order hearing.

In November, Not actress, 30, was granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order and temporary sole custody of their 9-month-old son, Leodis “Leo” Andrellton.

A hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, and Darius, 29, was banned from having any contact with them, requiring him to stay more than 100 meters away from Palmer and their son,

According to a court filing from this week, the exes requested that the trial date be postponed to “allow the parties time to attend mediation. The parties request that mediation and Plaintiff’s DVRO continue until a mutually agreeable date.” They originally court-ordered mediation scheduled for November 29.

Palmer and Jackson also agreed that the orders listed in the temporary restraining order “will remain in force and effect” pending a rescheduled hearing, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.

A source close to Palmer tells PEOPLE that the temporary restraining order “remains in force and effect and will not be lifted.”

“Keke will continue to protect her safety and Leo’s safety above all else,” the source says, adding that the actress “agreed to mediate because the case has received so much speculation and media attention, and she is concerned about her privacy, Leo’s privacy, and her family’s privacy. ”

A source says: “She prefers to handle the situation privately rather than in open court if possible. But if that’s not possible, the hearing remains on the calendar and Keke will stop at nothing to ensure a safe and healthy outcome for herself and Leo.”
