When Kelly Ripa was honored as a Disney legend, the only person she didn’t look at was her husband Mark Consuelos.
During the visit Live with Kelly & Mark on On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Ripa, 53, recalled her experience receiving the prestigious award from her former co-host Ryan Seacrest, who left the talk show in 2023, in Anaheim, Calif., on Sunday, Aug. 11.
“The one thing we did that I thought was absolutely amazing was we went to Disneyland and Kelly got her Disney Legends award,” Consuelos explained, adding, “I was there watching your speech. It brought tears to my eyes eyes.”
Ripa, for her part, admitted that she saw Consuelos’ reaction in the audience that night.

“I know, I looked away from you when you did that. I said, ‘Okay,’ so I just looked [fellow Disney Legends recipient] Angela Bassett all the time,” she reflected, adding that she “didn’t want to get emotional” with him at the time; otherwise she too would be overwhelmed by emotions.
“So I just looked at Angela,” Ripa continued, sharing that Consuelosa’s eyes are “very big and very expressive.” “It looks like an emoji whose eyes are full of tears,” Ripa said.
During her speech at the Disney Legends ceremony, Ripa thanked Disney director Bob Iger for “this truly magical experience.”
“By the way, I’ve known Bob for 35 years and he hasn’t aged a day,” she joked. “So I just want to know what ride it is.”

Ripa also expressed her gratitude to all the D23 attendees, before poking fun at her own honor.
“I know what you’re thinking. Why her? What has she ever done? She doesn’t even come here,” Ripa said. “But to you, I say, you sound like my family.” The talk show host said later in her speech that she “owes everything” to the Walt Disney Company — both professionally and personally — given that she was met by “hot” husband Consuelos on set All My Children.
The mother-of-three joked at the time that the couple “made” their children – sons Michael and Joaquin, plus daughter Lola – “right backstage at the Disney labs”.
In addition to Ripa, other stars who have been named Disney Legends are Miley Cyrus, Angela Bassett, Colleen Atwood, Martha Blanding, James L. Brooks, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Steve Ditko, Harrison Ford, Mark Henn, Frank Oz, Joe Rohde and John Williams.

Ripa ended her speech by recalling the moment her father took their family on a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida for the first time, before offering some more thanks to those who had done her the honor.
In a video announcing this year’s honorees, Seacrest said it was an opportunity to “celebrate the people who define Disney and who have left an indelible mark on the company.”
