Killer Mike is speaking out after being questioned by police at the 2024 Grammys in handcuffs.
The incident happened after the Atlanta rapper won best rap song and best rap performance for “Scientist & Engineers” and best rap album for Michael during the ceremony before the broadcast of the show.
In the video he shares The Hollywood ReporterChris Gardner on xformerly known as Twitter, the musician was seen being escorted out of the Crypto.com Arena by LAPD officers.
Killer Mike rapper handcuffed and questioned by police at 2024 Grammys for involvement in ‘physical altercation’
On Sunday night, the LAPD confirmed x that a male adult who was “detained and handcuffed due to a physical altercation that occurred in the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court” was arrested and transported to the LAPD’s Central Division.
“As you can imagine, there was a lot going on and there was confusion about which door my team and I should enter. We experienced an overzealous security guard, but my team and I have the utmost confidence that I will eventually be cleared of all harm. Until at that time, keep listening Michaeland keep chasing your dreams,” Killer Mike said in a statement shared with PEOPLE.
Killer Mike said he and his team received “numerous calls from concerned fans and colleagues wanting to know if I was OK.”

“I really appreciate the care and support, but I’m better than OK,” Killer Mike continued.
Besides expressing his gratitude to the Academy for filming him at the awards, he said he got another big win after the ceremony.
“We are incredibly proud and enjoying this moment. I am also grateful that one of my prayers was answered – the day after I won the Grammy – I found out that my son, who had been on the kidney list for years, finally has a match. Obviously, we elated,” his statement reads.
A source told PEOPLE that Mike has been charged with a misdemeanor and that his team is “confident that when the facts of the case come out, they will show that Mike did not commit the alleged offense, and he will be exonerated.”
On xKiller Mike thanked his wife Shay and those closest to him for their support.
