Kyle Richards and Morgan Wade Were ‘Dying’ Laughing at Comparisons to Wayne’s World

Kyle Richards and Morgan Wade can find humor in fans’ fascination with them.

Amid speculation about their relationship status, the two stars’ similar outfits recently drew comparisons to Wayne’s World best friends Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey). But it might come as a surprise that Richards, 54, and Wade, 28, find the comparisons comical.

“It’s really funny because they had a picture making fun of us and it was a complete coincidence. It’s like your best friends showing up. We do it all the time. Well, we have almost the same outfit,” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star tells PEOPLE at Bravocon 2023 while promoting her Nexxus Unbreakable Care Collection partnership. “So we were going for a drive, we were filming a documentary, I went to pick her up and I was like, ‘Really?’ And we both had our ripped jeans and sneakers and whatnot, and baseball caps and whatnot.”

Richards continued: “So there are pictures of us looking like that Wayne’s World. Wayne and Garth! We were dying. I was laughing so hard I could hardly breathe. And she said, ‘No, absolutely not!’ I said, ‘It’s funny that he’s so accurate.'”

The Bravolebrity noted that it was “so accurate” it “was embarrassing.” She adds, “I’m like, ‘But this is what I look like when I just don’t think anyone’s looking.’ I thought, ‘What can I say?'”

Richards also notes that it was “really weird” for Wade to see fans dressing up as them for Halloween. “For me. I’ve dealt with it… but not with her.”

Still, for Richards, who has been in the entertainment industry since childhood, “It’s really funny.”

While her unintentional twinning with Wade may have inspired a few tongue-in-cheek jokes, Richards is very confident in her hair and makeup skills, which makes her partnership with Nexxus all the more perfect. “I often do my own hair and makeup on the show. Unless I’ve done a sit-down interview in the early seasons, and even [for] some of them I did my own hair and makeup,” she says, noting that her hair gives her “confidence.”

“I mean, my hair can look great and everything else is a mess, and I feel good about myself,” she adds. “So I always take really good care of my hair. I always have.”

Richards and Wade have previously fueled dating rumors as the two have been spending more time together Halloween is ending the actress’s separation from Maurici Umansky, her husband of 27 years.

After speculation Richards and Wade mocked dating rumors in the flirty music video for Wade’s single “Fall in Love with Me,” the musician confirmed to PEOPLE that they are definitely not an item.

“We’re friends,” she said. “The Internet is a stupid place.”

On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last month, Richards confirmed as much, calling Wade “absolutely one of my best, best friends in the world.”

“We’re all very close,” she said, explaining she and her ex RHOBH Costar Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave both met Wade at the same time and communicate every morning on a group chat with their other friend, Jen. “We all wake up very early – Teddi, Jen, Morgan, me, we’re up around 4am, it’s funny, working out. That’s what we have in common. That was the first message every day. And we’ve all become very, very close.”

As for the rumors that the two were dating, Richards said she only thinks that speculation has spread because of Wade’s appearance.

“If it wasn’t for all those tattoos, people wouldn’t say that. I mean, I’m with my friends all the time, they don’t pay attention,” she noted, before joking that she and Mellencamp Arroyave have also heard similar rumors about their friendship . “Even though that’s what they said about us. And we were accused of that. But anyway…”

Richards met Wade in 2022 after the reality star joked that she “stalked” the country musician on Instagram after listening to her music.

“We met in person for the first time,” Richards said on Instagram in February 2022. “Some think it’s the most amazing friendship, but kinship knows no bounds 💞”

Their relationship has since continued to blossom, with the “Wilder Days” singer taking Richards as her plus one at the Americana Music Awards that September. They attended the HeartRadio Music Festival together.

Speculation about the couple’s relationship status intensified after PEOPLE exclusively broke the news of Richards’ split from Umansky in July.

At the time, the couple denied rumors that they were divorcing in a joint statement posted on Instagram: “Regarding the news that came out about us today… All claims about our divorce are untrue. However, yes, we have had a difficult year. The most challenging in to our marriage. But we both love and respect each other very much. No one was wrong.”

Richards and Umansky added that “even though we’re in the public eye, we’re looking to be able to deal with our issues privately.”

“While it may be fun to speculate, please do not create fake stories to feed into a further broken story,” they concluded. “Thank you for your love and support. Kyle & Mauricio.”
