LIAM Payne’s body could take weeks to be returned to his grieving family and laid to rest in the UK, it has been claimed.
The star of One Direction (31) tragically fell to his death on Wednesday from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires.

Liam’s devastated father was reportedly trying to get his son’s body back home to the UK as soon as possible.
But sources close to the investigation reportedly told Argentinian newspaper Clarín that the singer’s body will remain in the country for “between 10 and 15 days” as police still await key test results.
British embassy sources told the paper: “We are supporting Liam Payne’s family and are in contact with the local authorities.”
Prosecutor Marcelo Roma is awaiting the results of additional toxicology tests after receiving preliminary autopsy results.

Based on the testimony of people who saw him in the hotel and the evidence collected by the police, it was suspected that the musician was drugged and drunk.
For this purpose, the prosecutor requested that pathohistological, biochemical and toxicological tests be carried out, which were also completed during the autopsy.
The results can take 10 to 15 days, so it is expected that Liam’s body will be available to his relatives after the final results of the autopsy are received.

Footage taken outside the Casa Sur Hotel on Friday shows a somber Geoff Payne bending down to read messages written to his son.
The distraught, misty-eyed dad waved to Liam’s fans as he watched the touching display.
Dressed in a dark suit with his hands clasped in front of him, Geoff was shielded from dozens of fans and reporters by police and security.
Geoff Payne went to the Coroner’s Coroner’s Mortuary in Balvanera at around 3pm on Friday to identify his son’s body, Clarin reports.
Geoff is said to have asked permission to enter Liam’s room at the CasaSur Palermo hotel to remove his son’s belongings.
Champagne, prescription drugs, white powder and foil wrappers were found in Liam’s wrecked hotel room after the fatal fall at around 5pm (9pm UK time).
Fellow hotel guests revealed the star had been behaving in a “disturbing” manner shortly before the fall, with Liam admitting to one woman: “I was in a boy band – that’s why I’m such a f**k.”
