Chelsea Blackwell and Jimmy Presnell’s relationship is finally over Love is blind – and while fans may have expected their split given the couple’s tumultuous time together, Chelsea says she couldn’t be more surprised.
When asked if she felt a breakup coming, she tells PEOPLE. “Not at all. I definitely didn’t expect it. It was completely out of left field.”
“We were in such a good place before that date that I was just blown away and so in love. We had worked so hard on our relationship and we were in the most amazing place we could be, I thought,” she continues. “So that whole conversation… I was definitely taken aback.”
The fact that Jimmy, 28, ended things after their fun date at an amusement park didn’t go unnoticed by Chelsea, 31. “I think I even mentioned to him, I’m like, ‘Dude, have you just been waiting all day to enjoy yourself?’ in this theme park? Just us? What the hell?” Well, yes, it was a shock.”
He adds about the not-so-fun fair: “Yeah, I’ll never go back there again.”

However, the flight attendant and the event organizer know that Jimmy spared them both the embarrassment of rejection by kicking her in private, instead of doing it in front of their family and friends at their wedding.
“He was very worried [that]. He was very vocal with me the whole time and he just didn’t want my family to travel and my friends to waste their time and come over there if he was sure she was going to say no,” she explains. “So I think he was just thinking more about to waste my family’s time, to waste my time, and he only wanted to do it as soon as he had a solid answer.”

Love is blindChelsea faced her ‘inner demons’ after looking ‘crazy’ in fights with Jimmy (Exclusive)
Chelsea and Jimmy had a strong relationship in the capsules, but they both had another main competitor on their minds. Jimmy eventually broke up with Jessica Vestal to propose to Chelsea, and she ended things with Trevor Sova after Jimmy proposed.
However, the couple ran into problems almost immediately, starting with their discovery. Chelsea sparked an online discourse among fans after she told Jimmy she looked like Megan Fox while they were still in the pods. After their reveal, Jimmy said in the confessional that his fiancée “lied” about her looks (but was still attracted to him).
In the Dominican Republic, Chelsea gets mad at Jimmy for making comments about actress Amber Desiree “AD” Smith’s body. Back in North Carolina, she confronted him about his lack of affection, and he accused her of being “clingy.” She also revealed that Jimmy had seen Jessica’s photo and worried that he had second thoughts about his choice, though he brushed off her concerns.

Love is blindChelsea says she ‘absolutely’ sought therapy after the shoot
One of their last fights happened after Jimmy went out with his girlfriends – one of whom he had previously slept with – and Chelsea felt uncomfortable about the situation. While they were arguing, she brought up the relationship, which angered Jimmy as they agreed not to talk about it on camera.
While Chelsea admits to PEOPLE that her actions weren’t ideal, she also points out that the conversation needed to be had because they were still working through some relationship issues just days before their potential wedding.
“I definitely regret bringing it up on camera,” Chelsea explains. “It’s something that he’s made very clear that he doesn’t want exposed to the world, but in reality, this is my relationship, these are our issues, and I’m really sitting with this issue that I’m not allowed to bring up at a certain time, which is not fair.”
“It’s not fair on either side, but just walking around on a shell around a really big problem in our relationship, me had have that conversation. I didn’t care about the cameras,” she says. “He was just very concerned about how he looked and how he was portrayed, and I just didn’t — clearly, I didn’t care.”

Love is blindChelsea shares message to fans after being ‘slammed’ over Megan Fox comparison: ‘Cool It’
In the season six finale, Chelsea and Jimmy expressed how “sure” they were about their future together before Jimmy ended their romance, stating that Chelsea had “broken his trust” by revealing his “deepest, darkest secrets” involving his friend.
“I love you to death and I want a relationship with you, and I really want us to work. But I don’t want to go down the aisle. I can’t,” he said in the finale, later remarking, “That night was such a big step back that I can’t imagine that I will marry you.”
Despite the heartbreak she’s faced, Chelsea tells PEOPLE she’s learned a lot from her relationship with Jimmy and her time on the show.
“I’ve definitely learned that I’m a lot stronger than I ever thought, even when I was going through my relationship and being exposed to the world… I realized how strong and bad a bitch I am, that it’s like, ‘Oh my God, so I’m proud of myself,’ she says.
“And I learned what I wanted about things that I wasn’t getting from Jimmy that weren’t shown,” she continues. “He wasn’t matching his actions with his words, he was saying all the right things and it was amazing, but his actions weren’t matching his words. So when it comes to future relationships, that’s something that has to be aligned up there or it’s not going to work .”
