Bert brought heavy snow, heavy showers and strong winds, resulting in travel chaos for many.
A number of major roads were closed, including a key motorway bridge, while trains and ferries were cancelled.
Met alerts include two yellow alerts, both in effect from 7am to midday.
The first is for snow and ice and covers part of Scotland west of Perth
The other is for snow only and stretches from the area west of Bradford to south of Edinburgh, branching westwards as far as Dumfries.
In addition to them, seven yellow warnings are in effect.
Two warnings for rain cover Wales and the south-west, while two other warnings for rain and snow cover the whole of Northern Ireland and an area stretching from Nottingham to the Scottish Isles.
Finally, three wind warnings are active: one covering most of the west coast to South Wales, one on the south coast from Cornwall to Canterbury and one on the east coast from Hull to northern Scotland.
Six of these will last until tomorrow, with only the yellow warnings and the final wind warning ending today.
Aidan McGivern from the Met Office said: “We will see two to four hours of heavy snow across parts of northern England and Scotland during Saturday morning.
‘Thunder and hail’ en route amid flooding and a second overnight warning for Storm Bert
“This snow will accumulate thick and fast, with five to 10 cm at lower levels and as much as 20 to 40 cm over the hills with strong winds.
“You can expect blizzards in the hills across northern England and Scotland, terrible conditions for traveling and crossing the hills, as well as the risk of power cuts due to snow accumulation on power lines.
“So, all in all, a multi-hazard event as we head into Saturday morning.”
