Ozzy Osbourne Recalls Feeling Scared Upon Watching The Exorcist for the First Time: ‘We Shat Ourselves’

Ozzy Osbourne might be the prince of darkness, but horror movies can be too much for him.

In a new episode of SiriusXM Ozzy’s Boneyard show with co-host Billy Morrison, the “Crazy Train” rocker recalled feeling particularly scared after watching The exorcist first time with friends after release in 1973.

“I remember like it was yesterday, Black Sabbath’s manager, Patrick Meehan, called me and said, ‘You all have to go see this fucking movie, The exorcist. Consider – we’ve never seen anything like this before,” Osbourne, 74, said.

“We all went to this freakin’ theater in Philly and screwed ourselves,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer continued. “It was bloody awful. We had to go see it [1973 heist film] Prick after.”

Elsewhere in Ozzy’s Boneyard episode, Osbourne said he’s not interested in making his own horror movies — and revealed he tried working with Rob Zombie on one of musician White Zombie’s films.

“No, I can’t. It’s too slow,” Osbourne said of the possibility of making a horror movie, referring to the amount of time it takes to produce the film. He then added of Zombi: “I asked him to give me a cameo in one of his movies. He never got back to me.”

In a recent episode The Osbournes podcastthe Grammy winner talked about another on-screen project he won’t be participating in anytime soon: a revival of the family’s reality TV show, which ran for four seasons on MTV until 2005.

Although Osbourne admitted that the series was “the best diary” for the future, he noted that the series “made him a bit crazy at times”.

“It’s so offensive in your house,” he said. “At the time I said I wanted a safe room where I could go and pick my nose and pull a tooth if I wanted to without being on camera and they had a fucking camera in there. When you have hidden cameras, you start sizzling.”

Osbourne explained that as the seasons progressed the show became more and more “unreal”, with Jack adding that this is “why I don’t think we’ll ever do another season”.

“Will not be repeated. Never in a million years,” he concluded, to which his son Jack agreed: “To be honest with you, I don’t think it should.”
