Condola readily followed in her mother’s footsteps, making her Off-Broadway debut in 2009. She soon made her way to Broadway and in 2013 landed the lead role in Romeo and Juliet with Orlando Bloom. Thanks to her work on stage, she is now a four-time Tony Award nominee. She has also acted on screen, starring in the Showtime drama Billions.

Speaking with City and country magazine in 2018. Phylicia expressed her admiration for her daughter and gave her all the credit. “I never phoned Condol,” she said.

In her interview with Bossip, Phylicia gushed about her daughter’s talent and work ethic. “She is phenomenal. I am very proud of her,” she said. “She’s successful — oh my gosh, when I look at her career and her chronology and when she graduated, it’s pretty damn amazing.”

The admiration seems to be mutual. In 2020, Condola shared an adorable Mother’s Day tribute on Instagram with two pictures: one of her and her mom when she was little, and the other of her mom, aunt, and grandmother.

“I’ve looked up to this woman all my life,” she wrote alongside the photos. “Words cannot express the level of gratitude I have for her as a mother, for her as my own woman in this world. I am infinitely grateful to be a branch on this divine Feminine Goddess Tree.”
