The Duke of Sussex made his comedy debut at the 17th annual Stand Up for Heroes Benefit on Monday. The 39-year-old was speaking at the event, which is held to support veterans, soldiers and their families.

Harry’s remarks at the event, presented by the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival, then took a more serious turn and he opened up about how “special” the military community is.

Harry ended his speech with a heartfelt message to his fellow veterans and their families.

“I greet each of you, my brothers, my sisters, my friends, through respect, understanding and admiration,” he said. “And please remember, if any of you are feeling lost or alone with all of this going on, don’t forget the strength of purpose and upholding the important values ​​you know so well.
