Rajkummar Rao is an Indian actor. He made his acting debut in 2010 with Dibakar Banerjee’s film Love Sex Aur Dhokha (LSD).

Rajkummar Rao was born on 31 August 1984 in Gurgaon, Haryana, India (38 years old as of 2021). His birth name is Raj Kumar Yadav. He studied at Siddheshwar Mandir School and later completed his schooling at Blue Bells Model School, Gurgaon. As a child, he received martial arts training. He graduated from the School of Arts, Atma Ram Sanatan Buddhist College, Delhi University, New Delhi. During his college years, he was actively involved in stage performances and also performed in plays at “Shri Ram Center for Performing Arts” and “Kshitij Repertory” in Delhi. In 2008, he completed his acting course from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

He lost his mother while filming the movie “Newton.” He is also a national gold medalist in Taekwondo. He has a brother Amit and a sister Monica.

Profession
After graduating from Film and Television Institute of India, Rajkumar moved to Mumbai to focus on his acting career. For about a year, he visited various studios and met with casting directors. He made his acting debut in 2010 with the film Love Sex Aur Dhokha (LSD) after he stumbled across an advertisement by casting director “Dibakar Banerjee” who was looking for new faces. His remuneration was Rs 11,000. Movie LSD. Later, he appeared in a short film in the 2012 film Chittagong, playing the role of Lokenath Bal, a freedom fighter. He has also appeared in films like Ragini MMS (2011), Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and Talaashi (2012).
Rajkummar Rao got his big break in 2012 with Hansal Mehta’s film Shahid. He had a brief role as Govind Patel in Abhishek Kapoor’s film Kai Po Che (2013), which also starred Sushant Singh Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh. The film was a commercial success and Rajkumar’s performance was critically acclaimed.
In 2014, Rajkumar achieved success by starring in the dramas “Queen” starring Kangana Ranaut and “City Lights” starring Patlalika. He played a journalist in the critically acclaimed biographical drama Aligarh, starring Manoj Bajpai. His role as Newton Kumar in the 2017 film Newton earned him many accolades and received strong critical acclaim. He has also appeared in films like “Trapped” (2016), “Bareilly Ki Barfi” (2017) and “Stree” (2018).
In 2017, Rajkummar played the role of Subhas Chandra Bose in Ekta Kapoor’s web series Bose: Dead/Alive. That same year, he appeared in the biographical crime film Omerta, playing Omar Said.
In 2019, he played the lead role in Shelly Chopra’s film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, which also starred Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor Starring Sonam Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.
