On January 29, 2010, Roya Faryabi married Adnan Sami Khan, a famous Indian music composer, director, and Padma Shri recipient. He first met Roya during her visit to India in 2010 and proposed to her some time later. On May 10, 2017, the couple welcomed a daughter and named her Medina Sami Khan.

Telecommunications Engineer
From October 1999 to January 2008, Roya worked at the Munich mobile telecommunications company Telefónica German GmbH & Co. OHG. There she held several positions including International Roaming Engineer, IR Specialist and Product Manager. She is a member of the GSM Association’s IREG group and has represented the company at several conferences. In 2001, she became chair of the GSMA Signaling Working Group. In 2009, she became a project manager at telecommunications company Tekelec.

In 2010, Adnan and Roya lived in an apartment at Skyheights, Oberoi, Lokhandwala Complex. Technically, the apartment belonged to Adnan’s second wife Sabah, as the luxury apartment was Purchased with her money. Sabah Galadari went to check on her pet dogs and discovered that Roya was living there and that Adnan was still caring for the dogs. Therefore, the family court ordered Roya not to stay there. The court issued the restraining order after Sabah filed another complaint against Adnan under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. In an interview, Roya said of the situation,
My parents taught me that where my husband is is where I belong. “
Adnan, defending his wife, challenged the family court order and said:
No one can ask any wife to leave her husband’s home. How happy Sabah would have been if my first wife Zeba Bakhtiar asked her to leave. “
