Sister Wives’ Meri Brown Reveals Her Brother Adam Died at 54 — 5 Weeks After Stopping His Cancer Treatment

Meri Brown mourns the loss of her brother Adam.

On Friday, Sister wives star, 52, announced that her brother died on Thursday “just 2 months short of his 55th birthday.”

Along with a carousel of pictures of her and Adam on Instagram, she explained that he texted her “about 5 weeks ago,” explaining that he had made the decision to stop chemotherapy “due to the rapid progression of the cancer and the deterioration of his body.”

“Going forward, I will live, love, forgive, remember,” she wrote. “The relationship I’ve had with him has taught me many things and I have no doubt that he will continue to teach me things. I remain open to those lessons and look forward to them.”

Meri reflected on when she first learned Adam’s cancer was terminal and “potentially only had a few weeks or months to live,” saying the news “hit me like a ton of bricks.”

“After his death, I will be the one left of the original four,” she recalled. “We lost Teresa, our sister a little younger than me, to cancer in 2006. We lost our oldest brother Marc to heart problems in 2015. Now Adam to another type of cancer. I’m left.”

“Now I understand it’s not just me,” she continued. “I still have 3 younger sisters with us, the 7 of us are just mom’s kids. Plus many other siblings from our big family structure.”

Meri went on to explain that she couldn’t quite understand why his death, and later “leaving me as the last of the original four”, hit her so hard.

Meri Brown says she lives with ‘intention and purpose’ after learning that people ‘come and go’ in life

“The only 4 who were born in CA and have memories of our young childhoods there? The only 4 who existed before we moved to Utah where mom and dad started their lives as a multi-family?” she wrote. “Maybe because we were born in closer succession, with only 1-1/2 to 2 years between all of us? Even so, Elaine, child #5, was only 3 years later.”

“I don’t know what it is, but there’s always been something about the original 4. Not better, just different. Not closer, just different,” she added. “Maybe someday I’ll figure it out, maybe I won’t. Time will tell.”

Concluding her tribute, Meri promised to remember her brother “with honor, kindness and love.” On a sweet final note, Meri gave a nod to one of their inside jokes. “PS Adam, I have the last word. NO MATTER WHAT 💙,” she wrote.

It’s been a challenging year for Meri, who announced in December 2022 that she was ending her 32-year marriage to husband Kody Brown. (The revelation comes after Christine Brown and Kody announced they were separating in November 2021 after more than 25 years of marriage, and Kody and his third wife Janelle Brown also confirmed their separation.)

Since then, the TLC star’s split has played out in front of the cameras Sister wives. Outside of the show, Meri has been vocal on social media about feeling like she’s in a “challenging place.”

“Recently, I’ve been in a place where I let the opinions, judgments and actions of others get into my head,” she shared with her followers in a TikTok video in June. “And that kind of put me in a bit of a challenging place.”

“What I do in those moments is to come to a place that brings me peace,” she added before pointing the camera at the grove. “And I just allow myself to feel the feelings without judging myself.”
