Police officers tragically pronounced three dead at the scene as horrified locals watched the horror unfold.

The bustling seaside town was packed with tourists when witnesses claimed the Audi lost control.

It was reported that the driver “went around the horse and carriage” before climbing onto the roadway.

Locals claimed that the vehicle mowed down pedestrians before hitting the house.

One horrified resident said on social media: “It happened right in front of us on the road next to the pier.

“It is a complete tragedy for those directly affected by the accident.

“Without warning, it happened completely suddenly.”

Another claimed: “Audi seemed to come out of nowhere.

“He turned to go around the horse and carriage, climbed onto the pavement.

“People are standing around in shock, they can’t believe what happened.”

Someone else told PA that the crash involved “a car hitting a pedestrian and then a house.”

The Beaumaris resident was in a hotel overlooking the scene and was alerted to the incident by a “loud bang”.

She told the PA news agency that she saw “people trying very, very hard to do CPR”.

“It was just horrible, the ambulances took a long time to get here and when the police and the vehicles eventually came… there was nothing they could do when they arrived,” she said.

“(The vehicle) was so damaged. It’s so damaged it’s not true.

“Everyone really rallied around, diverting traffic and doing their best to give people dignity, but it was pretty horrible.”

She added: “The town is absolutely full of tourists and people walk down that street. It’s just a beautiful, beautiful place.”

The force has launched an investigation into the crash and say the investigation is ongoing.

A spokesman for Wales Air Ambulance said two crews were dispatched by air and arrived at the scene at 3.06pm.

A cordon has been put in place in the area around the High Street and members of the public have been urged to avoid the scene.
