Before the network announced the fan-favorite cop drama was canceled, the Magnum PI star discussed the possibility of a renewal with CBS Sunday Morning.

“Well, that’s a good question,” he said at the time.

“I’m still going to think that CBS will wise up.

“We’re the third strongest show in all of broadcasting.”

Tom continued: “We’re winning the night. All the cast want to come back.

CHANGES IN COMPOSITION

CBS made major changes to its lineup as programming priorities shifted.

The network began focusing on the new crime drama, leading fans to believe that Blue Bloods’ days were numbered.

In early May, CBS ordered its first new show, Sheriff Country, for the 2025-2026 season, Deadline reported.

The series, a Fire Country spinoff, follows Deadpool star Morena Baccarin, 44, as she plays Sheriff Mickey Fox, half-sister of Cal Fire Chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr).

Mickey investigates criminal activity in the small town of Edgewater.

Mickey was featured in an April show called Alert the Sheriff.

Fans flocked to X, attacking the network for ordering the show over Blue Bloods.

“What is wrong with you at CBS? Tierra del Fuego routinely gets lower ratings than #BlueBloods and yet you decided to cut #BlueBloods while doing a spin-off if Tierra del Fuego,” an angry viewer posted at the time.
