Vishnu Saravanan was born on Wednesday, February 24, 1999 (24 years old; as of 2023) in Kannamangalam, Vellore district, Tamil Nadu state, India. His zodiac sign is Pisces. In 2017, he participated in the YAI National Championships and won first place, and then at the YAI Senior National Championships in 2018, Vishnu again won first place.

In 2019, he finished third at the ILCA Laser Under-21 World Championships. Vishnu qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the Laser STD category with distinction. He finished 23rd and 22nd in the fifth and sixth races and qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.
In 2021, he participated in the Mussanah Open Championship, where Vishnu finished second in Laser Standard. In the same year, Vishnu finished 25th at the ILCA 7 World Championships in Barcelona, Spain.
In 2022, he participated in the Trofeo Princess Sofia regatta in Spain and finished 25th.
In the same year, he participated in the Asian Sailing Championships and won first place. In 2023, Vishnu participated in the men’s ICLA level 7 event (laser event) at the Asian Games.

- When Vishnu was four years old, the family moved to Bombay. At the age of six, Vishnu Saravanan used to accompany his father to watch him windsurf at the Army Yacht Base in Krabagh, Mumbai, and it was then that he decided to take up the sport as a career. Vishnu’s father bought him an Optimist sailboat and began training him in the Arabian Sea when he was nine years old.
- Vishnu loves to go to the gym and often shares photos and videos of himself working out on social media.
- He was the school’s javelin thrower and one year younger than Neeraj Chopra. Vishnu also competed in the National Javelin Throw Championships. He was equally interested in football and was close to choosing the sport as his full-time career option before his father told him how difficult team sports were. He also plays other sports like cricket, badminton, basketball and hockey.
- In 2021, Vishnu slept for 14 hours before competing in Laser Standard.
- While preparing for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Vishnu pulled a cart strapped to his body to improve his back and core strength; however, it was too light for him, he said in an interview,
