Who Is Matty Healy’s Girlfriend? All About Gabbriette Bechtel

Matty Healy has been linked to model Gabbriette Bechtel since September 2023.

Following his split from Taylor Swift in June, The 1975 frontman was spotted sharing some PDA with Bechtel in New York. The pair are said to have made several public appearances together since then, including during Fashion Week and at one of Healy’s concerts.

Often known only by her first name, Gabbriette was born in Orange County, California in 1997 to a Mexican mother and a German father. Despite her dreams of being a ballet dancer, Gabbriette became a model and worked with brands such as Diesel, Bottega Veneta and Skims.

In addition to her modeling career, Gabbriette shares a professional connection with Healy — she was the lead vocalist of the punk rock band Nasty Cherry, which was formed by English pop singer Charli XCX, with whom Healy also collaborated.

She is a model

Gabbriette originally moved to Los Angeles to pursue ballet, but ended up landing a role as a dancer in Blood Orange’s music videos. Then she was watched and became a model, although she said Vogue in May 2023 that her career was far from an overnight success. “I was an unpaid, hard-working model for a very long time,” she explained.

Gabbriette is currently represented by modeling agency IMG and has worked with brands including Savage X Fenty and Marc Jacobs.

Although she is now a successful model, Gabbriette said she had a hard time fitting in growing up.

“Most of the students in my high school were beautiful, exclusively white blonde girls, and my sister and I were Hispanic,” she told Vogue. “They called me some pretty awful things. But then I just learned to laugh it off.”

She is a musician

In 2018, British pop singer Charli XCX handpicked the members of a new punk rock band called Nasty Cherry, with Gabbriette fronting the group as a singer. The other members were guitarist Chloe Chaidez, drummer Debbie Knox-Hewson and bassist Georgia Somary.

Nasty Cherry has released three EPs and appeared in a Netflix series in 2019 I’m with the band: Nasty Cherrywhich documented the formation of the band.

She is known for her 90s grunge aesthetic

As her modeling career took off, Gabbriette developed a signature look. Her ’90s-inspired grunge aesthetic is characterized by the model’s trademark razor-thin brows, dark eyeliner and skin-loving wardrobe.

“Now I know exactly what I want, I can do my makeup in five minutes,” Gabbriette said Vogue. “It’s eyeliner, eyeshadow, and then I put on my brows. I have this little eyebrow pencil that I bought at CVS.”

The model also told the publication that her fashion inspiration ranges from ’50s pin-up stars to dominoes.

“I have loads of leather jackets and leather pants – I’ve been trying to find the perfect pair,” Gabbriette said. “I finally just learned to dress for myself. I used to really dress up for other people, but now I just wear what I feel comfortable in.”

She and Healy were first seen together in September 2023

In early September 2023, Gabbriette was photographed kissing and hugging Healy in NYC. The couple walked hand-in-hand through Soho and Washington Square Park.

Later that month, they appeared together at various New York Fashion Week events, and Gabbriette attended one of Healy’s concerts. The model shared a video of the show on her Instagram Story days after Healy left a series of red heart emojis on one of her posts.

Four months earlier, in June 2023, multiple sources confirmed that Healy had ended his brief romance with Taylor Swift. Gabbriette was recently linked to fellow model Levi Dylan, son of Jakob Dylan and grandson of Bob Dylan.

The couple hasn’t talked about how they met, but it’s possible Charli XCX connected them. The British singer, who recruited Gabbriette in Nasty Cherry, is engaged to The 1975 drummer George Daniel. Charli and Healy also collaborated on No Romeo’s 2021 single “Spinning”, which features The 1975.

Her cooking videos went viral

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Gabbriette began posting cooking videos online and quickly gained attention for her food content. One particularly viral post was her reconstruction of Erewhon’s famous grain-free vegan cake.

Gabbriette credited her parents for her love of cooking.

“Growing up, my family was always cooking,” she said Vogue. “My mom is Mexican and my dad is German, so all these different cultures collided in our house… My mom would always change the recipe, and my dad would grill something or make sauerkraut.”

She continued: “Family meals were a big part of our lives, we’d sit down together after school without our phones and talk about our day and the cooking process was always a big part of that.”

Gabbriette admitted that while she didn’t expect her recipe video to explode, she enjoyed the virality and even worked on a cookbook.

“Social media is always changing,” she told the paper. “It’s so unpredictable. But for now it works.”

Healy’s mom communicated with her on Instagram

Healy isn’t the only member of his family commenting on Gabbriette’s Instagram photos — the indie rocker’s mom also chimed in.

In October 2023, the model took to Instagram to share a photo of herself wearing a leather apron she created in collaboration with R&M Leathers and matching leather thongs.

The singer’s mom, English actor Denise Welch, seemingly showed her approval.

“This is exactly what I hope I’ll look like in mine when it arrives!!” she commented on the post with a few thumbs up and a heart emoticon.
