Woody Allen Says He’s ‘Always Willing to’ Meet with Dylan Farrow but Her Allegations Have ‘No Merit’

Woody Allen continues to maintain his innocence after years of sexual abuse allegations by daughter Dylan Farrow.

Allen, 87, appeared at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on Monday for the premiere of his 50th film, Coup de Chance.

In a rare interview, Allen said Diversity that his “reaction was always the same” when asked about his response to 38-year-old Dylan’s allegations. Dylan, who Allen shared with his then-partner Mia Farrow, claims Allen abused her as a child, detailed in 2021 documents. Allen v. Farrow.

“The situation was investigated by two people, two large bodies, not people, but two large investigative bodies. And both of them, after long detailed investigations, concluded that there was no basis for these allegations,” Allen said, noting that he also denied the allegations in his book from 2020 Speaking of Nothing.

“There was none of that. The fact that he’s lingering always makes me think that maybe people like the idea of ​​him lingering,” he added. “You know, maybe there’s something that appeals to people. Asked if Allen had seen Dylan or her brother Ronan Farrow in recent years, Allen replied: “No. Always ready, but no, no….”

Although Allen was never charged with Dylan’s allegations, a Connecticut prosecutor once said they believed there was probable cause to prosecute the director.

The allegations against Allen were first made during his break-up with Mia in 1992, with Dylan writing an open letter published in The New York Times in which she stated, “For as long as I can remember, my father has done things to me that I didn’t like.”

At a press conference for his film in Venice on Monday, Allen told reporters he’s been “lucky all his life” and mentioned his marriage and family.
