Five TLC Couples’ 90 day: last refuge therapy is almost over – but not without a little more drama.
Monday night’s episode saw the aftermath of a bachelorette trip to a strip club, as well as Kalani Faagata’s night out at the resort (not to mention her wedding vows). Relationships continued to unravel as trust was challenged and outside influences prevented the couple from being happy.
As the vow renewal ceremony approaches, it remains unclear whether the couples will actually want to renew their vows to each other – or will this be the end of their relationship forever?
Stress in the strip club of Yara and Jovija
Yara and Jovi argued about his strip club routine.
TLC
Jovi Dufren had no remorse for his wild outing at the strip club with the boys, but it caused Yara Zaya’s insecurity to spiral as she wondered why Jovi Dufren wanted to go back to the clubs again and again?
To say the pair weren’t on good terms would be an understatement – and things took a turn for the worse when the couples (minus Kalani and Asuelu Pulao) boarded a boat for a day at sea. The boat ride began with an angry Angela Deem telling the men over FaceTime that they had taken her husband, Michael Ilesanmi, to the club.
During a FaceTime call with Michael, Jovi recounted the evening — but when Yara tried to interject, Jovi told her to “shut up.”
Elizabeth “Liz” Woods commented on the incident in an interview, saying, “Jovi has always been a patron in the past [“Big Ed” Brown] because of the way he talks to me, and my god, I never thought he’d talk to Yara like that. Now I’m starting to see some of the issues publicly just based on the way he’s treating Yara.”
On the ship, Yara didn’t want to “accept” her husband’s rudeness and told Jovi, “If you’re going to talk to me like that, you’re going to fucking marry some stripper, OK?”

That was just the beginning of the pair’s feud, with Ed adding to the spiral by telling Jovi to confess to Yara about texting a local stripper he had previously traveled with and “made out with” the night before.
Yara directly asked her husband, “What’s so bad about your fucking relationship that you always have to fucking hang out with strippers?”
The other women saw the betrayal and sided with Yara. “Damn Jovi. What the hell? I just want to hug Yara and comfort her,” Angela said in an interview. “I haven’t seen that side of Jova and I don’t know if it’s a hangover, but I’m very disturbed by the way he’s treating Yara.”
She added, “Be careful because Memaw is listening.”

Day 90: Yara has been secretly taking contraception for months because she is ‘not ready’ for another child with Jovi
Yara ended up in tears and threw her drink at Jovi before walking to the other side of the ship. “I tried to have fun last night, that’s it,” Jovi said. “Not with her. I wanted to have fun with the boys, I’m sorry.”
But Yara didn’t want to let it go this time. “Why the hell are you married if you like her?” Yara asked, later adding, “You can put that apology up your fucking anus.”
Although Ed seemed to start the conversation when he mentioned texting, he took things to a whole new level when he brought Yarina and Jovi’s daughter Myla into the conversation, scoffing, “Why don’t you explain to your daughter where you’ve been? ”
At that, Jovi exploded. He got up to punch Ed, but production cut in before fists could fly. Liz also jumped in to try and break up the physicality. “You dragged my fucking daughter into this? This is your ass, man. I’m going to fuck you,” shouted Jovi.
He later explained his anger in the confessional: “Ed just doesn’t know when not to cross the line. He keeps bringing up things about other people when he has more problems than anyone in his relationship.”
Later, Yara talked a little more about the role of strippers in their relationship – and she also returned to her physical appearance. “I have no idea why my husband is so obsessed with strippers. It’s always been like that. I try to look good for him. I’m trying not to let go – she said. “I know I have a child, my body has changed. But I still go to the gym every day. I’m trying to be nice to him, and I have to be honest, I’m so fucking insecure. I have so many insecurities. I feel bad about myself, and he brings back all those insecurities.”
She added: “Jovi [is] he always tells me that if I don’t look good, he won’t be with me. So it makes sense.”
Ed and Liz take opposite sides
Ed expressed his disappointment that Liz got involved in his physical altercation.

After an argument with Jovi on the boat, Ed scolded Liz for “interfering” in a conflict situation. “I appreciate you replacing your man, but it made me look weak,” Ed said. “I looked like I couldn’t defend myself.”
Liz admitted in a tearful confessional interview that it upset her and made her question her own dynamic with Ed. “The way he treated someone else ended up hurting me and causing problems in our relationship,” she explained. “So how are we going to work, progress, on that, in the 24 hour period before the recommitment ceremony?”
Instead of engaging in a conversation with Ed, Liz stormed off as he shouted after her, “There he is! The therapy works, baby!”
Day 90: Ed tells Liz ‘You got what you deserved’ after the Jacuzzi Brouhaha with Angela
Ed explained his side in front of the cameras: “I don’t want her to stand in front of me in any situation. My job as a man is to protect her. If it’s a physical confrontation, she will step in. But what I don’t understand is why he doesn’t want to stand up for me in an emotional way.”
Liz worried that she and Ed had reached an impasse, saying: “The fact that he’s not trying to put in any work at all shows that he’s not going to be able to take any of this progress home. It definitely makes me feel like I don’t want to leave here with him.”
Earlier in the episode, Liz kept her mouth shut when Ed defended Asuela. “It’s really hard to see Ed on Asuel’s side knowing what I know,” she said. “I feel a bit upset about the situation, but I have to understand that I can’t say anything to Ed right now until Kalani decides to open up to the group. It’s just something I have to be patient about.”
Kalani gave up on marriage
Kalani has come to terms with the idea of divorce.
TLC
It was over for Kalani and Asuela.
The mum-of-two decided it was time to end their relationship for good – and filed for an emergency divorce. Last week, viewers saw Kalani walk out of her marriage and spend the night with another man. Taking a step back was what Kalana needed to decide what to do about her marriage as Asuelo continues to fail to meet her emotional needs.
Kalani called an emergency room to break the news. “I really wanted to go and talk and try to figure out my feelings for him and my feelings for the other person, but then we ended up doing other things,” she said. Hearing Kalani’s decision, Asuelu collapsed into his chair.
When he asked her directly if she wanted a divorce, Kalani just nodded silently. “A lot of the time with Asuel, things are just very difficult and very complicated,” she said during the session. “I feel like I have to fight to get even an ounce of kindness, affection or love. And I don’t have to do it with another person. I know you’re trying really hard, but I feel like you’ve started trying and now it’s too late.”
“I fought for almost seven years to make this work,” she said. “I just don’t want to fucking do it anymore.”
90 days: Asuelo’s treachery drives Kalani into the arms of her hall pass — who confesses ‘true feelings’
TLC
A devastated Asuelu said in a confessional interview: “I know that everything that happened is my fault. But I can’t do anything—I can’t change her. This really hurts and [is] painful. Divorce is not what I want for my family.”
The couple vowed to remain friends and raise their two sons together, but Kalani didn’t want to drag things out, telling Asuel: “I think it would be best if we just, right now, get a divorce.”
She continued this thought in the interview: “The sooner we divorce, the better for the children.” There is simply nothing more that can be done. I gave up. I just hope he can deal with everything and move forward with all of us.”
