Aerosmith is officially pulling out of the tour following Steven Tyler’s vocal injury.
The “Walk This Way” band made the heartbreaking announcement on Friday, August 2 – almost a year after Tyler, 76, broke his larynx during a show in September 2023.
“As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months working tirelessly to get his voice back to where it was before his injury. We have seen him struggle despite having the best medical team by his side. Unfortunately, clearly is that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible,” the statement said.

“We have made the heartbreaking and difficult but necessary decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage,” the statement continued. “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who was thrilled to come on the road with us one last time.”
The band also thanked their fan base for their continued support.
“Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught fire and has been burning for more than five decades,” the statement said. “Some of you have been with us since the beginning and you are all the reason why we wrote the history of rock’n’roll.”

“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become a part of yours. In every club, on every big tour, and in moments big and private, you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives,” the statement continued.
Back in February, Tyler’s daughter Mia told PEOPLE that her famous father is “doing a lot better” but that he isn’t following doctor’s orders.
