Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes Open Up About ‘Proudly’ Making Red Carpet Debut: ‘We’re in Love’

Their red carpet debut was a turning point in Amy Robach and TJ Holmes’ relationship.

And in the latest episode of their new iHeartRadio podcast, Amy & TJ Podcast, the couple opened up about being “proud” to attend the 2023 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in Los Angeles earlier this month.

“We proudly flew to LA, we didn’t have to avoid the paparazzi, we got off the plane holding hands, it was amazing,” said Robach, 50. “It’s funny how the smallest things feel so great, and that was one of them.”

“We’re proud to get off the plane,” added Holmes, 46. “Take a picture of us!”

“It was no small matter for us,” Holmes continued. Robach then remarked, “It was the first time we officially went out as a couple in front of cameras that we actually knew were going to be there and we didn’t mind, we smiled and we had fun.”

“We were just being us,” she continued. “Supposedly it means being sassy and having lots of PDA, but you know what? We are in love. They were happy. I don’t know how to act otherwise.”

Robach added that “it feels good to be without hiding, running and avoiding” when it comes to their romance.

The pair had matching looks for the evening, with Robach wearing a black leather mini dress and black heeled boots, while Holmes opted for a black blazer and trousers with a white button-down shirt.

In the first episode of their podcast earlier this month, the hosts opened up about their relationship for the first time and discussed their exit from the ABC series.

Holmes described herself and her partner as “people who lost jobs that we love because we love each other” and shared how they are planning for their future.

“Conclusion, we didn’t say this. I’m in love with this woman and she’s in love with me and we’re planning a life together,” he said.

Meanwhile, Robach admitted that even though the couple went through a “year of hell,” she’s “never been happier.” She also called her romance with Holmes “the most beautiful relationship I’ve ever had in my life.”

The couple’s podcast launched Dec. 5, exactly one year after ABC News president Kim Godwin put Robach and Holmes on hiatus from their roles as news of their business romance surfaced.

“Today is a special day,” Robach said during the introduction episode. “It’s almost fitting that we’ll be airing this podcast on December 5th because December 5th last year, exactly one year ago, was the day we were told not to come to work.”

“We never got a follow-up call to say come back,” Holmes laughed, while Robach added, “That’s true. It was the opposite.”

At the time, Robach did not confirm her split from actor husband Andrew Shue, nor did Holmes from her attorney wife Marilee Fiebig.

And days after Robach and Holmes’ red carpet debut, PEOPLE revealed that the couple’s ex-spouses, Shue and Fiebig, have found love together after splitting up.
